Dottir takes 2011 yearly TAZD.

To qualify for the yearly TAZD competition, you must have played an average of 60 regular games per month, or to finish, 720 games.

The zero datum used was

07.2, 07.9, 10.2, 14.0, 17.5, 20.3, 22.9.

I have child-proofed the yearly TAZD, but I will not say in what way I have done it. The childproofing did not have to kick in in 2011.

***Special note: Actually the childproofing did kick in for Xar in the November standings, not because of any action of his, but by my compiling his January 2011 seventh place percentage as 14 instead of 14%. That happens if you don't include the final % sign when you capture the data with the mouse. Note that his final percentages added to 129%. Xar's corrected November standings should have been

0865 15% 19% 17% 14% 12% 11% 07% 13457 Xar

Here are the complete final standings:

"you have to admit how difficult is to keep the rhythm when you play more and more games"
So why play so many games, if it negatively affects you? Hey skrum, didn't you say failing strategies should be discarded? Do you think you deserve to be rewarded over someone who has played only 660 games (the minimum) but has the following percentage profile:

27% 17% 15% 12% 12% 14% 3%
(This yields a TAZD of 22724.)
660 games isn't exactly a small sample, here- just like monte's 678 isn't small. Over that many games you can expect someone's percentage profile to be truly representative of their skill. That percentage profile is clearly superior to yours; I don't think you'll argue with me there. I'm all for encouraging more games, but taken to such an extreme as you have shouldn't be rewarded.

In case you're curious, here are the current annual TAZD*s for you, grandgnu, and monte.
24647 grandgnu
16994 montecarlo
16979 dottir

grandgnu and monte fit the mold of the TAZD*: not unreasonably large number of games, positive deviations in every place. Their scores should match the TAZD but since I'm using the posted data rather than exact numbers there's some rounding error involved. However, TAZD* caps at 300 games. You also have a negative deviation for fourth places, which hurts your score. Without any games weighting:
811 grandgnu
652 montecarlo
296 dottir

food for thought.

thanks for the legwork chloe. one last minor question i posed to skrum earlier...

gnu's total percentages add up to 97, whereas mine add up to 95. what happens to the tazd* if you normalize those to 100? i understand he will still be ahead of me, but i wonder how much i might gain from that normalization, if any.

"So why play so many games, if it negatively affects you?"

Really surprised with the question...I play so many games because I LIKE PLAYING KDICE...Where is the fun if i have to stop playing to win the TADZ/TADZ*? That would have no sense. Kdice is a game, to have fun and enjoy it, thats the main and people forget it all the time.

In the other hand, challenges are part of the fun, so you can play to get a medal, or just to get 1st each game, like you can play 100-500-2k-5k tables depending of the game-style you prefer. Meanwhile, you can join the TADZ to analize how you are doing, and it can be a new personal challenge if you want, not a funny one if the way to get it is not to play anymore though...

Don't worry Dottir, after I snag my crown I'll take you under my wing and teach you to be an elite player just like me!

So you play because you enjoy playing. That's fine, but playing lots of games obviously is not a good strategical move if you're trying to improve your TAZD. So, it should not help your TAZD. Pretty straightforward.

Playing more games, for a given percentage profile, will improve your TAZD. After a point, it does not improve your TAZD*. The TAZD* penalizes those who love the game.

correction: the TAZD penalizes those who are not obsessed with the game.

Well, actually it is...so people is complaining about that...

Im just saying that i won't be interested in TADZ if that means that i will have to ask myself to not play more games (and any yearly competition rewarding players who doesnt even play during months is not a real "yearly" competition). To be interested or not in a currently competition is a personal choice.

If you are the best atlethe running the 100 meters, you havent to be the best running a marathon too, even you havent to be interested on it, and nobody will think you are a bad atlethe because of that. Not a reason to question the rules of the marathon or the capacities of the runners...That's little bit disrespectful.

Anyway, just my opinion
