at 1:24 AM, Tuesday January 2, 2007 EST I'd suggest that, if you're going to keep the 16-dice version, you make the maps slightly larger. Not double the countries, but maybe somewhere in the 1.5 range. That would mean that everyone would average about 6 countries at the start, instead of averaging about 4. That would maybe take away a little of the tendency to get the "wiped out in the first 2 turns" result. Also, it would tend to make it so that a one or two more players could make it to the end-game.
Don't change the number of players, though. It'd be interesting to see how the game played with slightly larger maps. Thanks, Gohstlee |

at 1:28 AM, Tuesday January 2, 2007 EST I suppose I should ask... what's the minimum screen size for the current kdice screen layout? Making the maps larger could increase the min size (or not, if other things could be moved around....)

at 10:30 AM, Tuesday January 2, 2007 EST I hope you will NEVER EVER make the 16 dice game replace the 8 dice game.
I like the 8 dice game better!!! Ok, it needs some balancing, but in my opinion, the 16 dice game is less balanced! If I'm lucky with the refill, I end up with a 8+ or even 16 stack and nothing can stop me. I can simply walk trough the map and kill all other players highest stacks. Also, the 16 game dice will not solve the allaince madness. No, I just played some 16 dice games, and people were making alliances, rendering the game boring!!! So I prefer the 8 dices game!!! Never replace it with the 16 dice game. At least offer them both! |

at 11:40 AM, Tuesday January 2, 2007 EST I really like the 16 dice version. I like the speed. There is definately a different strat. With the probabilities dice 12-16 don't really matter that much which makes turtling a lot less effective. There is one thing, is it possible to change the algorithm for dice dropping. They seem to promote turtling more than anything. There are many times that I want to make a run and just can't because all my dice are stuck in a corner. Other than that, well done.

at 6:28 PM, Wednesday January 3, 2007 EST In 16-dice, the ending can be long and conservative, and usually folks just surrender. However, the beginning part of the 8-dice game, where everyone is just scrapping up a storm, lasts almost the whole game; there is no middle. It's freaking sweet. I love the land-grab scrapping and always thought it was over too fast in 8-dice.

at 1:08 AM, Thursday January 4, 2007 EST Well the ending arent really that long. People just surrender, because they are used to 8-dice endings, and surrender because they think oh it will be much worse in 16 dice.
Most times 1 player will be quickly have less than 16 countries, meaing its obvious he will loose. Therefore the faster surrenders at the end. Not because people are more bored.... |
