The Idiot is a good book but too simplistic in my opinion (maybe thats why you enjoyed it more). But, still, I am not sure you got the essence of it, as it is not really the "innocence" of the Prince, but more his purity and rightness that Dostoevsky would like to point out to the reader.
A little bit like, the whole world think that the Prince is a fool but he is actually the one that lives his life the correct way...

At least, even if you did not understand the book, you read it which is a good start and to be honest, surprising, as you continue to insult people you do not know.
