2013-02-27 Hero Of Time is a chat jerk. He is also Level 44 with four trophies and is an "Advisor" with
modding abilities. As you will see in the verbatim chat below, Hero Of Time doesn't consider his own chat abusive. I disagree; he is a chat jerk by definition. Chat jerks are bad for kdice. Using his modding abilities for his own benefit, Hero Of Time turned off my chat for "continual abusive chat." Dear Readers, below you may judge for yourself who is at fault. All chat below is verbatim as it always is. I am purple. ++++++++++ [Note: Hero Of Time (HOT) took a big lead on a 0 table game. I had a single land far away (which HOT later claims is a two-base strategy) but kept fighting him even knowing I would lose.] ---------- Hero Of Time: nice asshole move ########## [Note: HOT could have said nothing and just wiped me out or he could be a chat jerk. HOT basically wanted to be hand 1st place. What about the other players at the table? How is that right or just or fair for THEM? He doesn't care.] ---------- 3.14159: plus, since when are you a chat jerk? ---------- Hero Of Time: since you make moves like an asshole ########## [Note: Calling someone an *sshole twice is clearly being a chat jerk. I dislike all the spoken and unspoken truces on the higher tables. HOT is SO used to truces that he wanted me to sit idly by (or quit) rather than fight him. This isn't a court of law, after all. The offending chat jerk knows he did it--that is enough. He can't know how many people believe me or find me reliable. After the many times I have confronted chat jerks in chat at the tables, I believe lots of people know that I am posting verbatim chat. Certainly the chat jerks themselves know it and they HATE it. They hate being called out for their chat jerk behavior during the game, and they hate having their own words show up in the reviews I leave. My work has a moderating influence on them and those tending toward being chat jerks; if they can't "get away with it" they are less likely to do it and/or to be less extreme when they do act out. (Just look at Hero Of Time changing from *sshole" to "ass" in the example above.) In addition, my work gives succor to the 97% of Kdicers who are NOT chat jerks. The non-chat jerks enjoy knowing that the chat jerks don't always have it all their own way. The question, as always, is do we want MORE chat jerk behavior or LESS. I prefer less. I understand that 99.9% of the 97% who are not chat jerks just ignore the chat jerks as best they can (that is, they do nothing about it), but it doesn't mean they like it. They, too, would prefer less chat jerk behavior. Look up the "broken window theory" on Wikipedia. Here is a quotation: "A successful strategy for preventing vandalism, say the book's authors, is to fix the problems when they are small. Repair the broken windows within a short time, say, a day or a week, and the tendency is that vandals are much less likely to break more windows or do further damage. Clean up the sidewalk every day, and the tendency is for litter not to accumulate (or for the rate of littering to be much less). Problems do not escalate and thus respectable residents do not flee a neighborhood." Even more to the point for my work is this quotation: "vandalism occurs much more quickly as the community gives off a 'no one cares' vibe." Chat jerks are the vandals of Kdice. I understand the "ignore them" sentiment; I choose not to let the vandals mess up my neighborhood so readily. If you do it just gets worse and worse.

Nothing wrong with giving -chat when chat is abused. Nothing wrong with giving it back after some time to think. Very weird to require a personal excuse to give it back. A mod is not to enact personal problems when modding.
