Game Rules

1. Game-to-game favors or alliances are not allowed.

2. Play only one account at a time.

I know the first one is hard to get a clear ruling around, but about the 2nd one.

Alex got banned because he sat 2 acounts on a table to be able to fill it. He left seat before game started everytime, and whenever someone entered the room, he warned them that he would leave seat with his second account. I witnessed it. Therefore, he did not play with 2 accounts.

Does sitting a 2nd account on a table to fill it faster illegal? Does it deserve a ban? If so, I think rule number 2 should be changed to
2. Sit only one account at a time.

Thanks for reading, commenting, replying, etc.

rule #2 and well all rules should be written down more clear, I fully agree.

But ever since Thraxle started modding, the rules and bannable offences were pretty clear. Some things were added over time because people found new loopholes or tried to mess with the site in a new way.

Cheaters or well anyone can act surprised every time someone gets banned and try and be a junior lawyer and go "OMG OMG where does it say that in the rules?". Noobs don't know their history or they haven't read the forum for months so they would have a point. But almost everyone who has ever complained about the lack of "written down rules" knew the rules or at least knew how mods would react.

Mods have invested a lot of time in trying to define what would get banned and what not. some of us have TRIED SEVERAL TIMES for Ryan to help clear up this grey area and to fix the lack of a good , detailed rule list. I'm sorry to say that I gave up on that so I do the best I can without a rulebook and if someone has a problem with it: [email protected].

About the alex ban: I found out later that this was indeed the reason that he sat two accounts. Alex isn't dumb either and would not play 2 known accounts in front of possible witnesses. So the ban length got severely reduced, tomorrow the accounts are free. But I will keep banning people who sit 2 accounts at once, even if it's for fun. Why promote or accept someone sitting with 2 accounts in any way? If you want a table to fill faster, do what normally is being done: recruit or ask a watcher (easiest with a regular) to sit to help fill the table. If there aren't even watchers to ask or the place is that empty, why even bother trying to fill a table?

Alright, thank you for your explanation, jurg.

Perhaps ask Ryan if it would be possible to give mods access to editing rules and/or other stuff in kdice?

not that i expect him to answer you, though.

basically it's up to the mods' discretion, if they wanna be blackholes of fun they can be.

filling a table, because it's been half an hour and won't start, with an alt and then flagging it out was never a bannable offense especially if we're appealing to Ryan for our precedents now. if you're appealing to precedents set by moderators then what you ban and don't ban is arbitrary - but I'm pretty sure we established that already in a length forum discussion I won.

To make it clear for jurgen, if we appealed to ryan or thraxle for our precedents then banning table filling or account tanking is unfounded - if you appeal to a moderator precedent (that you set by the way) then not only are you self referential in your ruling but you're also opening yourself up to a can of worms regarding boner roller and all of his psychotic bans. If we use the latter justifications we could ban dasfury, monte, zoid, gurgi, me (lol!), chase, gb and anyone else that doesn't suck. Also sam (despite being a moderator), since he was a dirty cheater for a while too.

filling a table faster is still cheating cuz the winners get points easier than they should.

ps, where do we report cheaters?

#ac05jn Read the fucking topic before you talk out of your ass again. It says clearly that Alex was not intending to play with those two accounts. Meaning he would stand up when enough people arrived.

And even if he would have been too slow to stand up, and the game actually started, I'm sure he would lag out his alt account.

This ban makes no sense.

clarification:
if he stands up b4 the game starts, then it doesn't matter; but why do that to start with? it doesn't make the game start any faster.

if he stands up after game starts- even if it is b4 making any moves- that is giving that table an unfair point advantage over other tables. is it as bad as using 2 accounts to win?-no. but its still cheating.

furthermore; if it was the first instance, i hope its not a permaban.
and
i hope ur not always so rude.

aaaaactually... upon further reflection... i find it unlikely anyone would be sitting 2 accounts in one room to speed filling it. i do find it much more likely that that is just an excuse made up by someone who was about to play 2 accounts in one room and pulled one of them out when they saw a mod come in.
