Ask the CBO? Projections and estimates? Probably depends on who you talk to, but regardless, we all know government programs eventually cost way more than originally intended.........and they end up broken. This will be no different.

Yeah, but it's not really a federal government program. There is funding through the federal government for states to setup insurance co-ops for use in their state with federal funding to help get them running. I think obamacare is more about the mandate of having health insurance. And yes there will be a pricetag associated with getting it going, but it will be each state actually running the co-ops, or atleast that is how i remember it.

furthermore, a pipeline through canada takes years to complete and wouldn't affect gas prices until well into the 2020s and obama is out of office. politically it's not savvy and even if it were to have some affect on gas prices it could be conceived as shipping construction jobs abroad.
