I had an LOL moment at work today. Our insurance sales person had their yearly meeting with the crew to tell us about our benefits, changes & any cost increases. Of course our insurance went up again to the tune of 8% and while we were talking about increases she went on to say:
"This year will be very important to your insurance costs. The lawsuit over Obamacare and it's legality along with the election in November will greatly effect your cost increases for the coming years. If everything stays the same you can expect 8-15% increases every single year for the forseeable future." Just another reason for me to vote for anyone other than Barry. |

at 7:25 AM, Thursday February 16, 2012 EST It wasn't an insurance company employee. It was our benefits representative with BB&T who has been in the business for 30 years. She despises the insurance companies and beats them up on rates/coverage all year long.
But you're right, I can't imagine why insurance rates would continue to rise. It's not like we're insuring 30 million extra people on the backs of the middle class or anything. |

at 11:10 AM, Thursday February 16, 2012 EST Even without the new people, the elimination of the pre-existing condition rule, the yearly caps, and the lifetime caps will raise the rates.
Maybe with the new "moral objection" change being legislated, maybe insurance companies could be allowed to have the pre-existing condition rule again. After all, it is morally objectionable to file a claim based on a pre-existing, so insurance providers and purchasers who so believe should not be forced to forego a pre-existing condition clause. |

Seems like many want to vilify insurance companies, but at the end of the day their rates are going up because health care itself is more expensive. I would expect my car insurance to go up as well if the cost of the mechanic continually increased, for example. Can someone give a link to a rational, articulate, explanation? Or do I have an assumption wrong here? I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm honestly curious if someone knows of a good resource. |

at 7:54 AM, Friday February 17, 2012 EST I agree with the discussion points mostly. But if we simply replace the idea of "democracy" with "fascism", it all makes much more sense.
The U.S. is a fascist nation. Face it. |

noun \ˈfa-ˌshi-zəm also ˈfa-ˌsi-\ "a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition" ...uhuh... |
