i really appreciated this guy's defense on RP's caucus delegate strategy. great discussion about the difference between democracy and a republic, and why we use delegates to elect the president, which results in the more knowledgeable/proactive voters' votes having more weight than the ignorant masses' votes.

(note, this is not an official washington times article, just one of its bloggers' articles.)

If you think the masses are so ignorant/pliable - do you also not advocate universal suffrage?

did you read the article?

universal suffrage? hell yes.

but keep the delegate system, in which only those who are the most knowledgeable/proactive do the real voting. but still, the delegates are bound in a lot of states to vote for the person whom the 'universal suffrage' vote chose. i like this system, sad to say i was ignorant of the particulars before.

thanks dude.

this in reply to your electability statement about RP in the other thread:

i agree with you on not wanting to vote for someone who wont be able to beat obama. thankfully according to the last two rasmussen polls, ron paul has tied and been ahead of obama. so he is electable.

that said, i would much rather support someone who stands for things i support (bringing troops home asap, balancing the budget asap, and respecting everyone's rights to liberty, regardless of lifestyle choices) that someone who stands for things i dont support (sending more troops to the mideast, balancing the budget in a mere 30 years, and a supporter of ndaa/ndrp). those are just a few of the bigger issues.

in all honesty, when it comes to major differences, i see a greater contrast between paul and romney than i do between obama and romney.

oi. RP just sent out a mass email update explaining that his campaign is no longer spending money in primary states (i.e. texas/cali) beceause they realize the resources will be wasted. instead they are going to use resources solely on getting delegates at the state conventions, especially in caucus states.

after massive rally after massive rally, no mainstream media coverage.
after state convention won after state convention won, no mainstream media coverage.
after changing his strategy to stop campaigning in primary states? mainstream media blows up saying he has officially dropped out of the race.

fucking MSM.
