at 5:27 PM, Thursday January 19, 2012 EST "Mitt Romney may have won Iowa and New Hampshire, but even if he wins in South Carolina and Florida, he will technically still have a long way to go before winning the GOP nomination.
Mathematically, no candidate can seal the nomination until late April, which leaves a lot of campaigning yet to be done. Delegates—not voters—will decide the GOP nomination, and Iowa and New Hampshire award next to none, even as those states have bestowed on Romney a crush of media attention, a wave of momentum, and a growing impression of inevitability. In officially allocated – or "bound" – delegates, Romney (seven) leads Ron Paul (three), and Jon Huntsman (two). If that sounds paltry, it is. To be nominated for president, a GOP candidate will need the support of 1,144 delegates, a majority of the 2,286 who will vote at the August convention." http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/01/delegate-math-dont-anoint-romney-just-yet/ |

at 5:38 PM, Thursday January 19, 2012 EST Narrative and money will matter, and while I doubt Ron Paul will go away until he has too there is a good chance he will be the only one left after Florida unless someone defeats Romney in South Carolina. Perry is gone, Santorum can't have much cash really and has no momentum and Newt won't risk scuttling the Republican ticket if it is obvious he won't be on it, which without winning SC is almost a certainty. Media drives the story, and they refuse to acknowledge Ron Paul, it is the depressing truth.

at 8:39 PM, Thursday January 19, 2012 EST newt is slowly alienating the crowd because at the beginning of every response he gives, he belittles the questioner, and therefore to an extent, the audience. he is coming off more and more like a condescending ass. he needs to learn to just stfu at first and deliver his catch phrases and keep the crowd that way, instead of digging himself a hole to get out of at the beginning of every answer.
and paul is rocking this. great answer to say why the fuck are we dedicating all these resources to the afghanistan/pakistan border when we could be using them on the mexican border. that is something that will make sense to the voting republican audience. |

at 8:58 PM, Thursday January 19, 2012 EST damn, wish RP wouldve had his take-home message be less liberty/economy based (which we all know is his bread and butter), but more transparency/integrity based, where he really stands apart from these other three govt goons.
