JCP; funny; but you are misstating the issue a bit. Obama is parading around calling saying the house republicans aren't supporting his tax cut extension. Wrong... Obama wants to extend it for 3 months. The house republicans want to extend it for 1 year. The real disagreement over the issue is not WHETHER it gets extended or not; but how long it gets extended for. Obama happens to be on the side of LESS tax cuts; not more. This is a perfect example of a politician doing something opposite of what he is saying. This is an example; of what those in politics call "spin". You are currently demonstrating the reason why politicians do it. |

at 11:27 AM, Thursday December 22, 2011 EST Btw; this issue means very little. GOP establishment and DEM establishment are going to have a whole bunch of pretend battles between now and the election...
The only opportunity for real change is the next election. |

at 11:38 AM, Thursday December 22, 2011 EST House Republicans are refusing to extend it briefly, preventing that the further extension can be bipartisanly discussed/designed.
It's a measure that even Senate republicans support, simply to get it done in time to keep the tax cut come January. Saying "No it's not long enough so we're not going to let you vote for it" is counter-intuitive, the only people you're hurting on the taxpayers. It's political posturing at its worst - sacrificing the end goal both parties want for the sake of political bickering. You really need not be a patronizing dick, though, I'm not Veta. And seriously, if feel the money isn't worth the effort (even if it's ONLY 40 bucks), then by all means, give it to those that can use it. |
