Really, this shit is allowed? i mean it would just be annoying if it was just changing names, but impersonating other players? How is this not against the rules?

well kinda. I mean, there was no reason to ban it up until now because it mostly seemed harmless. I am pretty sure vash/simon started it all for some fun. but as with a lot of "new things to do" that come up from time to time, people start thinking "how can I use this" and for some, unfortunately, that means "how can I abuse this". So it seems to be annoying for some people and I am sure it's confusing to some people too. It defenitely has harassment and abuse potential, especially in the hands of the few KDicers that like to see how far they can push the limit for something. So now what? I didn't see any harm in it until now. In fact, as with many things on Kdice, if everybody would be level headed and mature enough to use silly things with moderation and only for some occasional fun, this would NEVER become an issue. Simon changing his name so often and clearly making it a style + I heard a few people talk about its cheating potential made it an issue I guess. And it's not only about cheating potential, there defenitely is potential for other annoying consequences. So I am going to put the issue on hold. I am not going to ban but for the moment I am going to see what other mods and maybe Ryan think about it. Also, this is only a newly emerging discussion. Let's give it some time in the forum too. Until then I will just ask everyone not to overdo the use of it and if possbile, just not impersonate anyone with @s. We have the precedents about not using L/I impersonations of accounts, I think we are going to have to threat this in a similar way in the future |

at 5:36 AM, Friday November 25, 2011 EST I have banned people for impersonation before. I see it as a form of abuse and I will take action if the subject of said impersonation complains.

the easiest black and white rule is to forbid it while sitting games or tournaments |
