I don't particularly like Ron Paul. Here's why:

Long story short, Ron isn't as much a libertarian as he is a an anti-federalist. He's fighting a battle that was lost 200 years ago. Imparting more rights to the states doesn't make the country any more efficient, if anything it's regressive. And if you remember, we fought a bloody civil war over the issue already. The fact is, the only way you could think of Ron Paul politically is as an anti-federal libertarian voluntarist, as real libertarians basically are tantamount to anarchists.

The flaw in libertarian thought though is that it fails to account for the fact that not everyone is perfect, ethical, moral, and responsible - that everyone isn't an ideal person. Or that there is even enough good people in society to locally police the irresponsible, unethical and immoral.

Libertarianism sounds good on paper but in practice it can't work because of human nature.

Ron Paul is a constitutionalist. That means he is a federalist. And the very purpose of the Constitution was to set up a federation of states with separation of powers and checks and balances, because of..............human nature!

He is for states rights, if you need wuotes click the vast compilation summary I provided. If he was a federalist he'd recognize since the civil war the entire constitution supersedes state laws - explicitly.

He is pro states' rights, which isn't even a libertarian stance, if anything decentralization makes you more susceptible to corruption.

I don't bother checking your sources any more because you don't know what they say or don't understand them.

Ron Paul believes that the powers of the Fed should be turned over to Congress. Doesn't sound like he doesn't believe in federal powers.

You say something factually incorrect so you change the subject? Nice. Nobody was contesting that. In fact that and the rest of Ron Paul's political ideology are very well articulated, demonstrated and cited if you need any clarification.

Anyway the dude is about as libertarian as I am: we both advocate ending the wars and personal freedom. Economically, Ron believes regulation is a state right, which is a constrictionist view - a 200 year old archaic one and one that is no longer possible to interpret through law (14th amendment, 10th amendment, commerce clause).

Didn't change the subject. The subject is Ron Paul and his federalism. And you are not a libertarian. Get some street cred.

Right I'm not a libertarian, and frankly neither is he, that's the point.

Now do you agree RP is simply an anti-federalist? I'm not making any reference to the federal reserve (which I think needs to be rethought) but I just want you to understand the what's and why's.

Sorry, I rely on a lot of sources for my understanding, but you are not one of them.

Thats good, you don't have to take my word for it, that's why I provided a compilation of Ron Paul quotes describing his political values and views. You're welcome, and if there is no disagreement on there veracity then I think we're in accordance, no? If you do disagree on the veracity of a quote I'll happily give you a lmgtfy.com link. And you can then procede to concede to or discredit the assertion thereof.
