Marquee pitching matchup of the playoffs IMHO.

Predicted lines for the two...

Verlander - 7-2/3 IP 4 H 2 ER 9 K 1 BB
Sabathia - 6-1/3 IP 7 H 4 ER 6 K 3 BB

Tigers 6
Yankees 3

Grow up? I didn't say anything like "fuck the Yankees" or "Jeter is overrated". I'm simply making my prediction for the game I'm most interested in (I hate the Yankees and Verlander went to Old Dominion where I saw him pitch numerous times).

C.C. has outright blown over the last month and pitched his way out of the Cy Young picture.

Tigers in 4.

Fuck the Yankees.

Jeter is overrated.

just HAD to throw in the Jeter comment didn't ya?

at least give him credit for somehow getting to and finishing at (near) .300 (.297)...I'm still not sure how he managed to do that.

It wasn't on my mind to throw it in till you told me to grow up. Stop being a homer.

p.s. I've always thought Jeter was a VERY good player, just not nearly as amazing as you Yanks make him out to be. Ripken was great. Yount was great. Rodriguez was great (at SS). Jeter was very good with a lot of help around him his entire career. The most overrated part about him is his defense which for lack of a more appropriate term....sucked.

He is an above average hitter that is good in the clutch, but some players don't even get the opportunity to be clutch. Jeter played in the playoffs his entire career because he was a Yankee. The Astros had the pick in the draft before the Yankees the Jeter came out. Put him on the Astros for 15 years and he would have still been good, just minus the October heroics.

Anyways, you got me off on a rant.

Go Tigers!!!

Here's a good example.

Bernie Williams is top 4 all-time for the playoffs in games played, at bats, plate appearances, hits, runs scored, total bases, singles doubles, home runs and RBI's.

Jeter is top 3 in all those categories too.

Posada is top 3 in some of those categories.

None of the above mentioned players is in the top 50 of players in league history with the exception of MAYBE Jeter. They just had great talent year-in/year-out thanks to having the most money to buy players.

See my point?

And if you'd like me to name off 50 players in the history of baseball that I'd rather have on my team than Derek Jeter, I'll gladly compile a list. Hell, I can probably name 7 or 8 just from the Yankees....some current Yankees.

Anyways, nothing gets my blood boiling like talking about the Yankees. Simultaneously the worst thing and best thing about baseball...

A jeter biggio bagwell infield all thru the 90s would have been siiiiiiick. Two guys in the 3000 hit club in the center of the diamond and an (almost 500) hr guy at first. Awesome.

I love the yankees because there is no light without the darkness.

I hold true to my original expectations for these two facing off.

Sabathia is notoriously good on short rest... Verlander is not notorious for this.

On 4 days rest Verlander's ERA is 2.39 compared to Sabathia's at 2.68.

On 5 days rest Verlander's ERA drops to 2.29 whereas Sabathia's rises to 3.30.

Verlander is 14-5 in 21 games on 4 days rest and Sabathia is 12-5 in 19 games on 4 days rest.

Verlander is 5-2 with a 2.08 ERA against teams with records above .500 whereas Sabathia is 9-8 with a 3.71 ERA.

Any way you slice it Verlander is better.
