http://www.thirteen.org/metrofocus/news/2011/09/observations-of-a-jailed-journalist/ This makes me proud to be an American for the first time in a while. It also made me want to drive to NY and join in. |

at 11:52 AM, Friday September 30, 2011 EDT It's ironic that these protestors are interfering with other people' exercise of a right that is most in line with their own idea of rights--a commons. A commons, by definition, is open to all. The protestors blocking the use of the commons to others means they are not honoring public property rights. Probably we don't need to bother asking them what they think about private property rights.

No, I believe skrum would say this. |

at 1:37 PM, Friday September 30, 2011 EDT man, glad to see someone in here is seeing things clearly (skrum). these protestors think they are going to change the way the American political machine works. not gonna happen, unless they can magically wipe greed out of people. campaign finance reform and tax cuts are attainable goals, but a referendum or something similar to that would work much better. instead, they are choosing to clog up the financial district and block public roads and sidewalks. imho, they're fucking idiots. and don't give me this non-violence, civil disobedience shit b/c MLK did not conduct shit the way these dumb hippies are doing it. plus, if they care so much about money, why do they dress like bums despite the fact that they are all living in 2,000/month apartments paid for by their parents? fuck im ranting a little bit, but these kids piss me off.

at 1:38 PM, Friday September 30, 2011 EDT That is kinda my point. It is counter productive to protest about the violation of your rights while simultaneously violating the rights of others that are not involved.
More like a tantrum then an effective tool at creating change. And Mrk; the second amendment is for armed rebellion against a tyranny. The USA still have avenues for non-violent change. |
