The KDICE Constitution:
We the Players of KDIce, in Order to form a more perfect gaming environment, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, and promote the General Welfare, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the KDIce players of the World.

Article I. The MOD Squad

MODs shall be elected for the players, by the players, and to serve the players.

On the 1st of every month, an election will be held for new MODs . On the 2nd of every month, the new MODs will take office.

Eligible Active Players* with a Clean Record* may nominate themselves to run for the position of MOD.

The number of MODs needed is to be determined by Ryan each month. However, there shall always be an odd number off MODs.

The most Senior Moderator shall act as President of the Moderators*. In the event of equal seniority across the MOD squad – a public vote will be taken between the MODs to determine the President of the MODs.

Active Players* seeking a MOD position with the most votes by the end of the 1st of each month shall be inaugurated to their respective positions.

Article II The duties / responsibilities of the MOD Squad

All players wishing to add / update an Avatar, will submit their avatar to the Review Process. This review process will be done with due diligence, and generally all avatars shall be reviewed by one of the MODs within two (2) days. Once the Avatar has been accepted, it will be displayed.

MOD’s shall retain the right to ban or revoke the privileges of players that break the rules of KDICE. Not only will the username(s) of the guilty be blocked, but the Public IP address(s) of the user will be blocked as well.

Banning durations will no longer be arbitrarily assigned. They will be as follows.

Racist – Sexist – Bigoted comments in open forum / chat: Banned Indefinitely. Deletion of account, trophies, records, etc.

Harassment – Threats – six (6) month ban. Deletion of account, trophies, records, etc.
Pornagraphic Imagery (that slips through the review process) – two (2) week ban.

PGA or Game to Game Favors – If a player is suspected of a PGA or Game to Game Favor the moderators will be given one (1) week to review the facts of the case. The MODs will then submit their verdicts to the President of the Moderators. Each MOD will cast a vote for Guilty or Innocent and a brief summary of how they came to their verdict. All MODs must vote, and their vote and logic will be posted in open forum. If any MOD fails to vote, the MOD’s will be said to have been hung, and the defendant shall be found NOT GUILTY. In the event of a tie Vote between the mods, the President of the MODs* shall vote to break the tie. This is the only circumstance in which the President of the MODs* shall vote.
In the event that a player is found GUILTY of PGA or Game to Game Favors, they may Appeal the Case. All information that was made available for the MODs to base their verdict on will be provided to the Player in Appeal. This information will be posted on open forum for thirty (30) days, in which an open dialogue will be held in the FORUMS. The player in appeal will have the ability to Blog in the Forum during this period (not be able to play KDICE). At the conclusion of the thirty (30) day period, a re-vote will be held by the current MOD Squad. The verdict of this vote will be final with no further appeal allowed.

Guilty of PGA or Game to Game Favors – Banned indefinitely (all known Usernames and IPs), deletion of account, trophies, etc.

Article III – The Rights of the KDICE Community

KDICE players maintain the right to play in a fun, non-racist, non-bigoted, non-threatening environment.

KDICE players will submit their votes for the MOD squad by the end of the 1st of each month.

KDICE players shall be able to report rule violations to the MOD squad. All legitimate reports will be looked into and replied to. A new section to the page will be added for players to be able to submit rule violations, questions, concerns, etc. to the MOD squad.

At any rate....This is my last month, at least for a while.....

I'm sure Ryan will eventually change the MOD situation on his own....neverthless, one more time for the record!

The Kdice Constitution was a hybrid attempt at humor and logic. Again, it was meant to start a conversation at how to make the site better. The MODs and others have shot this down repeatedly...I get it.

Though my attempt for dialogue has quickly, as expected, deteriorated into a bashing of me; and any attempt at making the site a better operated, more enjoyable, less argumentative gaming environment shot down; I apologize for any insults that I have made to other players out of frustration both during my rants of the past few days, and players at the tables.

My final thoughts:

I think a moderator election would both increase player involvement and increase site traffic. From a webmasters stand point...that means more $$.

I think that the deletion of trophies and histories from players accounts (the ones that cheat to get the points) would deter them from cheating (since they cared enough about the points and trophies to cheat in the first place). Likewise for racist - bigoted comments.

I think that consistent punishments for rule violations are a must. The fact they are player to player makes the process seem subjective. It should not be this way. It must be objective.

Since I have returned to playing over the last few months I have seen a noticeable change in the attitudes at the tables. People are more insulting, threatening, racist, bigoted, and angry than before.

I don't blame the mods for this at all. I think it is much more related to the increase and evolution of Vflags.

The commentary could be controlled easily by the following:

Making a strict banning rule for players that use profanity, threats, racism, bigotry, etc in the chat boxes....and actually enforcing it.

This requires players being able to quickly / easily report this activity. Currently, this is not possible. This could be solved with a link on the banner to 'submit a report / complaint'.

The avatar situation can be resolved with a review period (much like the poker sites did). If the AV is approved, it is posted, if it rejected, a reason is provided.

With those very simple changes goes 75% of the requirement for mods. They would be limited to handling the complaint requests, approving avatars, and making appropriate bans OBJECTIVELY.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Cool story, but again, this is meant for Ryan's ears, not ours. We can discuss what we want for this site for as long as you like, but without Ryan's active participation it's a truly pointless exercise. Most of what you have pointed out as well as many, many other ideas have been sent to Ryan. He does what he can when he can.

My not final thoughts on anything as I plan to continue living, thinking and occasionally changing my oppinion:

1) An election is not useful. That obsession of anybody here referred to as "veta" seems to have had a multitude of accounts. Anybody with sufficient time can do that and thus spoil any election. You can not be sure of anything here (BigJumblies being male was quite a surprise iirc) - so electing a board won't work.

2) The best leadership is dictatorship, IF you have the right dictator - also an oligarchie is quite perfect, IF you have the right few on top. Problem is getting these there and since that is an unsolved and most likely unsolvable problem, democracy is fine for the time being - though it does give the best speaker and not neccessarily the best person the most power. This said - our dictator is defined by creation of the game and he is selecting his chosen few. Live with it - it ain't been so bad after all.

3) Rudeness in the internet has come a long way since usenet groups and alike. Get that asbestos suit or get off - it's only words, it pisses you off for an hour or disgusts you for a while. Where's the big damage, there's enough good laughs in it as well.

4) Punishment should always educate, deathsentences are hard to revoke after execution, that makes them so dangerous. A several month ban wil only lead to leaving the site or instantly creating a new account - neither option can be wanted. So punishments should be, but they must be reasonable.

5) Gamereplay, report button with instant screenpring, more persons willing to invest time in modding - all good things needed and helpful!

6) We have contributor badges, member stars, medals, the yellow stars and so on. Why don't we have offender-spots as well? These could be red-teal-green-circles for reasons of political correctness. Anybody could and would notice rule-offenders instantly. After some time on probation those could even vanish if no further offends occurred. You can go on with small times of banning and have more people taking a look at the offenders. The persons can continue participating, they can become a "clean" member of the community again - just what you'd like to have for criminals in real life.

i like idea #6 louis. really would love to see an ebay-style ratings system, where you see a redbar or greenbar based on approval of the community too. except the only way you could vote on someone was if you played a game with them, that way you could avoid some of the proxy crap.

That's basically how conquerclub does it. Works great.

Finally some people made some interesting points so it's worth the time to respond.

The current situation isn't as bad at the moment as a few whiners or rightfully banned (or warned) people want other people to believe. If you take away all of veta's cheating this year, there haven't been too many high profile cases of cheating. And the situation at the lower tables is relatively under control too. It's far from pga-free but still, I mainly seem to be banning the same people over and over again on different alts.

Sure, things are far from perfect and I made the occasional mistakes in ban lengths or ban severity. Racism, insults, cheating etc still happen but how to get rid of those without becoming a police state? or how to achieve it without overmodding? Ryan asked a few times not to overmod so people will have to accept that this is the internet and shit will happen here. A few more mods would be helpfull to share the work but the number of bans or cases shouldn't increase much compared to now I think. Only excessive stuff should be banned.

Personally, game replays are the only thing I need combined with one tool to make people think twice about cheating: either point edit rights or medal removal rights.

discussions and having good ideas are great but let's keep it realistic: more rules or more procedures or or any other drastic chances will never happen here in K-land

This game is all about www.kdice.com and not so much about kdice.com/discussion.

cliffnotes: 6 more players needed at the 5k table! let's just play!
