Sam, sure Paul is pro-life; but his policies are not effected by it. He is against a federal ban on abortions and considers the issue a states right.

This is perfectly in line with my views (pro-choice). This is completely different then the social conservative agenda; which is to ban abortions outright.

And most of my comments were taking shots at the system as a whole, Paul is far from the only one guilty of pandering I just think that someone that really wants to redefine how the government works in this country might start with trying to change how our politics work, since that is part of the core problem.

I hear what you are saying; I think we might just disagree on what aspects of the government/politics need to change.

going off of skrum's comment...abortion is an issue for men as well. it's funny (not really, sad actually) that the government gives men no say in whether or not their woman keeps or aborts the baby, but if she does choose to keep it, he HAS to pay child support. how come a woman can decide she doesn't want to be a mother (and just abort), but a man can't say oh well, i don't want to be a father so i'm not gonna pay child support?

I imagine the argument would go something like this. Before conception and after birth, Man and woman have basically the same rights and responsibilities under the law. During pregnancy responsibilities (in the broadest sense) are inherently different and as such rights are different as well.
