The real trouble of kdice.

(This post was inspired by the "unfair ban" thread)
As much as "OTFs" are a problem, the core trouble of kdice (in my opinion) is a particular type of player. There are people with huge egos on this site. Narcissitic people. And they are the main problem. Most people don't admit that they don't care about points. But let's face it: trophies and points do somewhat reflect how good a person at this game is. And it's a great game - no doubt. And I have no problems to admit that when I was playing it "competitively" I felt good when I was better than others and when I won lots of points. That's mainly because it's a challenging game and especially before the era of member tourneys it took lots of skill to win a top 25 trophy. And I believe that most "top players" at least at one point in their "kcareer" care about points and winning trophies (every top player who denies that is a hypocritical bitch). Now the big problem are those players with an oversized ego I mentioned earlier. They usually are young males (16-23yo) with inferiority complexes. They probably think that by winning trophies they somehow appear more manly or will be more respected by other people on this site who have equally huge egos. And that pleases them a lot. Those players are usually extremely cocky, have a "big mouth" in the chatbox and even worse: they would do anything for points and "kmerit". They see cheating as a sport and since they are not grown adults, they get very satisfied from fucking over other players. Instant messengers and virtual social networks usually "catalyze" it all. To be more explicit: examples are fiero, zoid, veta, greek, trendz, mattz, jona etc... I know that they are not identical in their style and some of them are not even on the site anymore, but people like them will always come to this site and will be equally damaging to the game. They have been the death of kdice and they are also the reason why this site will probably never evolve to become one of the really big gaming sites on the internet. In December'09 (the last month I have been on the site every day) there have been nearly 11,000 registered accounts. In April'11 about 7,300 in July'11 less than 7,100. This month we are at 6,772 with two more days to go. I know that the person(s) who have been in charge are also to blame for that development, but the destructiveness basically comes from the narcissists. In a nutshell: focus on banning those kinds of people and punish them as much as possible. |

Typical top players are just whiny bitches crying for some points and that's fuckin annoying when most people around are just trying to have fun on a dumb internet game... |
