Time
If time extends infinitely into the future and infinitely into the past, that means there is neither a beginning or an end. It is a state of pure nothingness. We are not going anywhere; not getting any closer to the end, nor are we getting further from the beginning. Neither a starting or ending point exist, which means there is no middle. Just as a line can only stretch between two points, also known as a beginning and an end. This means we are stuck in the present moment for eternity. But in relation to an infinite amount of time, what is year? The answer is unattainable, because the two are not relative. This means that time is not passing, because time does not exist.

So from here I ask what is evolution, or any change at all, and what causes people to grow and die? Or if someone has another interpretation of what "time" is.... I would love to hear it.

Time doesn't exist. Very simple.

Count ten seconds. Now think about the time you just counted.

Now count 4 seconds. Think about that time.

Now 1 second. Once again think about how long once second is after you count it.

Now .5 seconds.

Now imagine counting intervals of time divided by 2 every time.

You can never have no time, but never have any time either.

The discontinuity (or limit of 0, either way you want to look at it) that results is this present moment. There can never be anything other than the present. Time is purely an illusion.

And also, you asked what makes people grow and die. More accurately, we are always in a cycle of death and birth of life. I believe it's every 2 weeks, but i'm not positive on that number, our bodies actually recycle themselves almost fully. All of your skin recycles, etc etc. The point at which we die is basically when our machinery fails, in other words the damage or the condition it is in exceeds the recycling or natural healing capabilities of our body, as well as scientific means of healing in many cases (ex. cancer).

just bc you dont understand it, doesnt mean that it's an illusion

maybe time isn't linear at all

Did you do what I said though? There is only existence like you said. Only the present moment... how could there be anything else?

There is something called planck time, but it's complicated and I won't get into it.

It basically says there is a minimum interval of time over which things happen, based on the time it takes for light to travel a certain distance in a vaccuum.

If you have ever done shrooms or more potent hallucinogens, you will know that time is a matter of perception.

Imagine that the world is one big videotape and everyone is constantly being filmed, creating this tape as it goes along.

yeah i was going to mention planck time...

but according to your argument, couldnt the same be said about physical space. just keep halving and halving, and go on till infinitely small dimensions and then, according to your logic, VOILA! space does not exist.

except wait. im occupying space. and i am occupying time just as well. such a flaky argument...

Monte; who are you talking about; I only see the present and see no posts in the past; which of course doesn't exist.
