* when things are bordeline or debatable like this, you can either allow them or you can ban them. I tend to allow them when not 100% sure but we definitely need consistency. * It's not worth all the discussion imo, people from different backgrounds will always have different tolerance levels. Clear rules are always best and we will never be able to please all. So Ryan's no penis, vagina or nipples rule seems pretty easy to follow by the letter. It's a bit like the "no sharing accounts" rule. Personally, I think we could be tolerant for a bit of sharing for fun but where do you draw the line? So no sharing at all takes a bit too much freedom away but at least it's black and white. I'm seriously considering just using Ryan's rule (including cartoon stuff) for the sake of having a simple rule. * maybe deadcode can come up with something like this but it would be nice if Ryan himself could add an avatar filter. From then on, we don't ban any porn avatars anymore but we let people choose to put the censor filter or not. If a mod tags an avatar as NSFPP (not safe for prude people :P), it will automatically be smiley'ed for these people. Maybe we can let the community do some tagging too and all avs that get a certain amount of tags will either be sent to a mod for review or will be automatically added to the censored list. |

I get what you mean, but bad idea imo. Would take far too long for an avatar to be marked, and it would just lead to people pushing the limits further and further. Could see some really over the top avs being pulled out if this was allowed. |

- Whether it's small stick figures, a pixelated picture or something else entirely, is it still an image that falls under the category Sex. |

at 11:03 AM, Tuesday August 9, 2011 EDT you mean even harder magic tricks than that? I dunno
but you are right and maybe I should have specified it better. The really excessive or graphic stuff that is clearly out of line will ALWAYS be banned. There must be a limit close to what there is now but I would like to give the more prude people a way to automatically censor everything showing boobs, girls in sexy poses, stuff like your current avatar, etc. So us mods still keep doing the clear case moddings, based on Ryan's guidelines. But for the acceptable but more questionable things, we or the community "tag" it as NSFPP. The PP can then choose to filter out tagged avs. |

at 11:10 AM, Tuesday August 9, 2011 EDT Good thoughts Jurgen, however, if the community votes by tags or anything, we have a problem. We don't have 1 person 1 vote here but 1 account 1 vote. We also have persons lacking a real life, that have numerous accounts... We'd get totally harmless avatars marked sooner or later, just to show that you are "stronger" than the other guy.
So I think your idea of simple rules - like them or not - is better. Skyler has it quite good. I don't care a shit about this gif or most nude pictures (I love the blowjob-kitty), but others are more easily offended. So no nibbles, tits, dicks, vaginas or images clearly (clearly is given if let's sa 3 mods agree on this) resembling sexual activities (sorry Marius) is an acceptable approach. For all of us, that need a little of that, there's always youporn. Und für die Deutschen: Vollassi Toni. Ich hab' mehr gefickt als gepisst. |

at 12:33 PM, Tuesday August 9, 2011 EDT Louis does raise a good point and it's really not the effort coding something that can easily get abused. doing IP checks would reduce "troll tagging" but defenitely not worth Ryan's sweat imo.
There is also the problem of a tagged person changing his avatar. what if he (or she!) decides to behave at one point, the new avatar will be censored unless the "program" checks for updates in avatar. So If I would lobby to Ryan for an avatar tag system, it would be a mod tag tool. Then we create a forum thread where people can post profiles of accounts with offending avatars (I bet I could get a 100 thread out of that) |
