OMG Sam - this was mainly posted for entertainment and because I think it's quite a nice visualization.

Also: it was done by a Brit, so it's only partly aimed at Americans and only partly tries to simplify/explain the views/politics of the two big American parties. (That's another reason why the colours are what they are, because the British Labour party's colour is red while the British Conservatives (or Tories) have the colour blue).
You actually can see those two British parties in the picture.

But again: Most of that guy's work is for entertainment and to provide information in a concise way.
