Can't we just get rid of Yodel forever?

Just a piece of shit cheat who thinks he's good because his best buddy is a mod and allows him to fuck around all he wants. One more piece of shit that this site could and should do without.

I am here to talk, like a 'real man', yet you can only retort with baseless accusations and pitiful attempts at insults.

das, your rant reminded me of this (sorry, just the first 2 seconds, too lazy to find the whole clip on nbc):

I remember when thrax originally banned yodel. Yodel responded by spamming the forum with all sorts of crap. Thrax wasn't the only one banning yodel accounts at the time. It was quite a few accounts that the mods cleared out as a group; I know I had several myself as well.

Then thrax gave up and unbanned yodel without discussing with the rest of us (we actually had an active mod forum for a little bit) and several of us were disappointed. Understandable though; we had (and still have) no real tools or ability to affect change. The massive amount of garbage on the forum became pretty annoying and I imagine this 'truce,' as yodel called it, seemed the best option to thrax at the time.

If Ryan were to give us the ability to delete forum posts (or at least move them to a sub-forum, or anything at all like a real forum has) we could eliminate a good number of the problems without IP bans.

Doing any job without proper resources or support is extremely difficult. Add to that the fact that there's no compensation, and that people have lives that interfere and change, and long-term modding becomes pretty challenging.

When I started, modding was fairly rewarding. People were appreciative and while I didn't ban nearly as frequently as some would like, I still helped make things better, albeit only on a small scale. The mods (minus thrax) that were active actually discussed things in a new forum and there was a trend towards consistency.

Then the yodel incident occurred, mods' lives got busy, and some of us became disillusioned with the role based on (the lack of) Ryan's actions.

I think the bottom line that we can all (at least most) agree on is that kdice is a great game with a great community but also with terrible support from its creator. However, he doesn't love the game enough to let it go - ie to let others develop, maintain, and administrate it. Most of our problems and disagreements stem from disagreements over how things should be done around here, but no one has the power to truly affect change.

I like how all the cheats and mods say that I, the one and only Yodel, have ruined kdice and modding for the community.

Really guys? I'm not even playing more than 1-2 hrs a day and I never got above 3. I don't play alts to pge others or harrass others, I don't call people who ask for help idiots nor do I mock the non cheating community for "not knowing how to play."

I call mods out on their lame behavior because they don't even use the tools they have effectivley and I call out cheaters like das because they a pathetic people. Other than that I'm a nice(ish) guy.

Learn to think before you post verm. Good to see ur still as stupid as ever.

i still peg your greatest achievement as mod to that blog post about flagging. i know i came off as a douche in the ensuing discussion, and if there were a damn edit button in the forums, i would delete all of my overly critical posts in that thread. i wish more of the mods used the blog in a similar fashion.

damn, just read what i typed. so sappy. just like maple syrup... mmmmmmm

Yodel, the discouraging part was more the breakdown in the mod communication and going back on something we said we'd do; which is only indirectly related to you. Apologies for the confusion.

Honestly, that just happened to be the example at hand. While the factors differ for every mod (thrax not having support from Ryan, my changing jobs, etc) most of the points I made above stand.

Aw monte, so sweet. Grade A reply there.
