Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is insanity. By your own proof the Dems are insane for trying to raise the debt limit again and again even after it has proven detrimental to our economy. |

I think we can both agree by the above precedent the GOP really doesn't care about the debt limit. They're just posturing and the hypocrisy is disgusting. Glad we finally agree about something yodel. |

"Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is insanity." is false. Therefore the conclusion that both of you seem to be making is false. |

at 2:45 PM, Friday July 1, 2011 EDT Obama's policies have done nothing but allow the recession to dig its heels in and stick around for awhile. He is neither raising taxes NOR cutting spending in a significant way, so how is allowing yet another debt limit increase a good idea? You are mad that Obama isn't being allowed to do the same things Bush did, who you proclaim to hate? Now who's the hypocrite?
Obama is one big fat fucking pile of heaping dog shit fail. If I run my credit card up to $10,000 in order to pay some bills that might be a necessary evil. If after that time I'm still running at a deficit, and I haven't changed my spending habits, and I haven't increased my salary, someone SMARTER THAN ME probably needs to step in and take my fucking credit card. You blame Bush for getting us into this mess, then get mad when Obama isn't allowed to do the things Bush was doing which you feel CREATED THE MESS. You sir, are the biggest hypocrite in this thread. |

at 4:21 PM, Friday July 1, 2011 EDT my point is simply that the policy goal of lowering the debt won't be accomplished by refusing to raise the debt limit in the immediate term. it seems that making the debt limit into a political issue actually undermines the goal of eliminating the deficit by causing immediate harm to the economy. (i.e. causing US gov't credit to be downgraded and potentially precipitating a second financial crisis). why are elected officials so childish?
