RLC + Straw Poll

Ron Paul won the Republican Leadership Conference (RLC) straw poll.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2011-06-19-ron-paul-straw-vote_n.htm

He had a great speech; and lots of support; but you can definitely see the social conservatives in the crowd looking uncomfortable with him.

Speech starts at 2:00 (warning runs 30+ minutes): http://usaguns.net/patriots/rlc5.php

Did anyone else watch any of the other speakers?

dead, im not interested in the debate of whether "too big to fail" is valid or not. i think you read too quickly into "i agree with BO here" as "omg i must destroy this man with logic."

IF too big to fail exists, i hate the fact that the govt allows companies to get that big, they should be broken up before they get that big.

IF NOT too big to fail exists, then great.

EITHER WAY, let the motherfuckin morons pay for their careless mistakes, dont fuckin bail them out whatever you do, or you just reinforce their decisions.

i mean, i believe that 90% of americans feel this way: you reward good decision making and penalize the opposite. but then, in the govt, and HUGE companies, it seems that quite often it is decided (surely not by the populace that elects these people, or the populace that consists of these companies' clients) that we should STILL reward the bad decisions, whether by refusing to punish someone because they are a fellow bipartisan whatever, or because they are a fellow circlejerk top-tables mega-earning ceo... still give the moron an 8-figure yearly bonus. wtf.

i really believe 90+% of america agrees with these standards. which makes me conclude that our govt and ceos (the power holders) are desperately out of touch with the populace. but yet, they definitely know this, and realize that the populace has no power to stop their ways.

this is prob one of the main reasons the tea party formed, because a lot of people were pissed at the govt for doing things that 90% of people hated. but then the tea party quickly got its momentum absorbed into infighting and what not over random smaller issues, and now is a comic relief on the political stage.

its amazing how ignorant and manipulatable the american populace is. makes me want to form a cabal with some of yall and flagfest our way to power. but that wouldnt work cus im sure a lot of yall i could trust to flagfest with me, no way could i trust you with the power of being a mod.

(thrax is nodding his head)

I totally agree with you conceptually. I tend to focus on the government aspect of waste and corruption; because the market has a natural encapsulation for those things in the private sector.

Government waste and corruption effects my freedoms and money.

Private sector waste and corruption effects only the share holders. (or at least traditionally did before the government started nationalizing shit).

Sure there are bad eggs in the private sector; but the only ones harmed are those that choose to invest in them and/or do business with them.

"Buyer Beware" is a concept that people need to learn. It means research the products you buy and invest in. If you do not; then you are justified in taking a loss.
