Progressives and Libertarians share a lot of views dead. I would say the biggest difference is that progressives realize that while the free market is good for a lot of things (infrastructure, industry, etc) it has short comings. And these short comings often come up when the markets in question aren't necessarily free. This is especially true in the case of public goods like proper education, good health, financial security and the ability to find a job with sustainable income. It seems to me that these are the responsibilities of a just society and a just government. |
