If this forces the state and possibly to federal government to reexamine our obviously failed drug policy, one of the chief reasons for the overcrowding, I would love this decision.

A few points:
1. Fuck Scalia, seriously that man should be executed for treason and crimes against the state.
2. Our prison system and justice system overall does nothing to help reduce crime and it fails to rehabilitate those it is designed to punish.
3. We would be better off just taking most violent offenders out back of the court house and shooting them. I don't advocate this but it would be more humane and better for society overall than our status quo.
4. Seriously fuck the US' drug policy.

lol Sam, while I don't agree entirely with your sentiments towards Justice Antonin Scalia, I do agree that his philosophy on judicial interpretation is indeed crazy. Originalism has its merits, but so does the activist approach. The ideal judge would exhibit both originalist/activist tendencies when reviewing a case, but since that doesn't seem plausible, the next best thing is to have a diverse bench with views on both sides.

p.s. fuck the u.s. drug policy i agree. fuckin' a people bitch about when we waterboard 'enemy combatants' because they think it's torture, but you don't see anyone questioning our justice system and the practice of locking up non-violent 'criminals' in boxes.

p.p.s. it's funny how Scalia can explain any case in an originalist scope but when it comes to Brown, he's just like ehh i dunno

US Drug War = US Prohibition: Part Duex

Same ending though.

I totally agree with the drug war being stupid and counter productive; but geez got enough hatred for a single judge? Decaf!!!

Scalia is an intractable idealouge that has no business on the high court, he would prefer to serve on a court like the Star Chamber, seriously fuck him. People like him are at the root of the problem in our country.

but gb the same people that called out the US for torture called it out for poor drug policy. it's just that torture is more embarrassing for us nationally than drug prohibition

I totally think that the interrogation techniques are not necessary and bad for the US image; but you gotta be stupefied by the fact that we get a crazy amount of press for stacking some fools naked in a pyramid and pouring water on your mouth; while Saddam and countless other dictators; still stone people, feed them into woodchoppers, and gouge out eyeballs.
