Yeah poker is a good way to gamble, drink and not lose lots of money if you are smart.

Only play free or cheap flops if you are in the blinds or have some really good connecting cards. Only make raises or call raises pre-flop if you have a big pocket pair. That should make the poker cheap.

Whoops wrong thread, but fuck it, it is as useful response as the OP deserves.

Sam's 2 cents covered most of the very important general aspects but I'll address a more man to man point. Sorry it's going to be in the forum instead of in private but it is in the spirit of what Sam is trying to say: raise points in the open. And you really need to get the message this time for your own sake.

Pooch, I have spent more time than anyone else has done on this site listening to your rants and complaints about how fucked up this site is and how you can't take all the bullshit anymore. As mods, we try to fight against the bullshit but let's be clear, we can't change everything and the things you can't seem to handle will be here forever.

SERIOUSLY, you need to make a decision soon. Clearly, after all this time of trying for them, medals are not your thing. I am sorry to say it but even with cheating or OTFing involved at the higher tables or not, maybe you might never survive there. I advised you many times that you should simply play for fun and avoid 2k or above. You say you play for fun now yet I see you try time and time again to go for medals on 2k, lose points there and start ranting.

You are a nice guy (probably to nice for this game) but maybe your strategic insights are not good enough for the 2k. Yes there is a lot of bullshit there but at least 3/4 of the regular 2k players are pretty clean and fair players and they actually DO manage to gain points in the midst of all the cheaters and the bullshitters. So why can they do it and why do you keep struggling? I already explained you a few basic rules you need to follow if you want to get your foot down at the 2ks. If you want more advise or we need to go over them one last time, sigh, why not.

But this is a bit like those people who think they can sing and they try everything they can to become a pop star. So their family and friends support them, making their head even more crazy about their potential. So to protect these people against further disappointment, someone from the outside needs to tell them they can't hold a tune at all, their voice isn't appealing to a wide audience etc. It's time to burst your bubble too in a way.

So I really have all the best intentions in mind when I will say one last time you really need to be playing for fun and avoid the higher tables. You do pretty well at the 500s so why not stay there and actually have fun? Who knows, if you don't look at your points, maybe you will win a medal eventually.

I have a minor quibble with what jurgen said, with the singer analogy. I can sympathise a bit with those people because it is their dreams being crushed. If I've been singing for a couple years, and my family has been supportive, I might have this idea that I CAN be a pop star. I audition for american idol, or I send some demos to studios, etc etc, someone tells me "actually, you suck." Suddenly a couple years of work and hopes and dreams have been crushed. I'm pretty sure no one's DREAMS get crushed by kdice. If you honestly get this upset about dice, it was probably time to quit like six months ago.

I agree it's a totally different scale so I totally see what you are trying to point out Chloe

but that's why I actually wrote "But this is a bit like..."

I really think if someone really sucks at singing or acting or whatever, someone really should put them with their feet back on the ground and save them from years of endless trying with the inevitable major disappointment in the end. If they are good , they are good of course, no need to make them feel bad.

If someone just sings for fun and tries out a few free podiums and stuff, why kill that persons joy in life. These people don't need protection. they have a hobby, they feel good about themselves.

I am not in the music or entertainment business myself but I do have some contacts in it, some people I know really made a fortune in it. But I have also seen the other side of the medal: people who have ruined their life for that impossible dream, people who went broke because the threw money they didn't have to try and start a career in showbizz. Even talented people sometimes don't break through so why should people who are really bad actually be more lucky? Yes, I know, a few moderately talented people also became successful, thanks to some luck, good producers and the monthly scandal to keep them in the media.
