Would you increase spending, bloating the deficit even further than the record levels created by SuperFly Barack Obama, if it meant that you could get unemployment to 6% and provide universal healthcare?

Hey, is Obama ready for $5.00/gallon gas? Can he re-open the fucking drilling yet in the Gulf? Stop dragging your fucking ass and start drilling for oil here in the states.....unless you're going to mandate hybrids and electric cars be purchased by the general public. Bueller? Bueller? |

The rich have already listened to your irrefutable argument and have increased the wages of their employees to the level that the marginal cost of the increased wages exactly offsets the marginal increase of their own happiness. Isn't it nice to be right? |

at 11:03 PM, Friday March 4, 2011 EST Americans hate raising taxes on the rich for two reasons:
First, they have been convinced by neo-conservatives that taxes are government-sponsored theft. They also have been told that any money that goes into the government is inherently a waste, thanks to Reagan's "starve the beast" strategy. Secondly, Americans fervently believe in the American Dream wherein any average Joe can rise to the top at any moment, despite overwhelming statistical evidence to the contrary. Thus, since poor people believe they will become rich any day now, they fear raising taxes on the rich because they believe they may some day be rich. Also, the media portrayal of poor vs. rich people is a striking dichotomy. It truly astounds me that greed (mass accumulation of capital) is an attribute to be proud of in this country. |

So there should be no tax on becoming rich. There can be a tax on being rich. A tax on consumption will do the job. |
