OH I got it fine Jurgz.

The only reason he's doing it is to be "cool" and because he has so much dirt being an ass clown that he might actually benefit from a new acc for a few months.

Ur a dirty smelly tool Travis.

No one likes you.

Indeed, what odie said. I always found BR's doctrine to be rather draconian and even hypocritical at times. If he comes on you can ask him, we had arguments about his "policies" for an hour or two at a time when he still played. What it usually came down to was that he was justifying his own actions with moral self righteousness, and apparently since he was a mod that's okay to do. The point is, you can't have ridiculous rules in place simply so you can pick and choose when to enforce them when you suspect foul play is afoot. What if driving SUVs was illegal, but cops only busted teenagers because they were 'probably going to use it to go to an underage party'.

I can see how that would be helpful to crack down on underage drinking, but at the same time it's bullshit that you can pick and choose who you bring down with certain rules. According to BR, Rowdy and Jona and Me and anyone else who checked to see if the login worked should be banned. But that's bullshit. Anyway, that's my .02.

Also Jurgen has been a great mod, thank for appointing him. I don't think I've seen this many legitimately warranted bans since you were first made a mod Rob.

thanks Veta, I appreciate that

If I am wrong and someone can prove it, I will never be afraid to admit I was wrong and correct an unjustified ban. But I am trying to mod with common sense.

The BR doctrine to ban all accounts makes sense in a lot of cases but you can argue on it always being needed maybe. Maybe the name "BR doctrine" should be dropped because too many people just link it to BR and want to attack his methods. I will not use the term anymore if I decide to ban more than one account.

For first and second offenses, you are mainly trying to send a message to a player to change his playing habits. In this case, you do not always need to ban all accounts.

However for serious offenses or for repeated other offenses, you can't really let it pass that easy and you really need to punish the player and look past the account that was used. If I ban all of someones accounts, you can be sure I was convinced it really was needed.

How much do you think a player is hurt when he cheats on account A and you don't stop him from playing on accounts B and C. Often, he will laugh behind your back cuz he can play on B and C.

It's really one of the last resorts methods, after that you are only left with things like point resets or IP bans. I just hope to never having to use them but these things should be available as a thing to make people think twice about doing a final offense.

On a sidenote, I think banning a main but allowing a player to play an alt can be a well fitting punishment. IP bans or permabans haven't always worked effectively (wait, have they ever?) so I think keeping a main with all the medals banned for a long time is a good way to try and keep some players behaving reasonably. People sometimes try to move heaven and earth to get some accounts unbanned so that strengthens my believe that this type of punishment gets the message across and that banning specific accounts for a certain time does hurt and is a good approach to try and have a player behave. Depending on the offense, you can unban the main after the player proved his good intentions for X months.

Why ban people for signing in.

Why not encourage people to play it, and then ban it when it gets 16k.

Surely that is a better punishment?

He posted it for everyone to see, of course people are gonna try to and see if it works, what does it matter if they sign in... they can't do anything...

if you can't do anything with it, why sign in with it anyway?

and there would still be 2 annoying things you could do with it:

* spam chat with the account name like damara77 did recently

* leave reviews with the account (although I am not sure you can still do that with a banned account, I would need to test it or ask a banned player)

Travis changed the password I think so no point in bothering anymore. I almost banned Willy Jr for sharing IP with KDice_CPR, then I realised that was Travis his alt.
