The effect of knowing each other non of us that has been playing a long time can ignore or avoid. That's human, you tend to trust a person that you know is making a move (or not making it) intentionally and as a signal and not out of stupidity (which could be the reason for some new players). But we all know that some favors are not caused by the board occasionally - and I do not claim to be the white knight. @Yodel: You'd be surprised how many players openly state they won't do 2k or above regardless of their score because of the teamplay there. How many new players did kdice gain the last 6 month (not counting alts)? How many new players reached a top 30 rank that were not alts of players having been there for a long time? Top ranks is a closed circle. This could be because it is the world leading strategic players. Or it could be because they just have a strong tendency to keep that circle closed. I don't judge this (and wouldn't call it pga). It is human. It might well be that I would do the same if I was in the position. I haven't been tempted yet though ;-). I don't have a cure either. It is just an observation. I don't think there is much use in denying it either. After all you can have fun in this game staying at the 500 and just occasionally taking a look at 2k to distribute some points. |
