Meg Whitman would be awful, and Jerry Brown's criticisms of her are spot on.

The problem is Jerry Brown's position of wanting tax cuts/raises be voter approved is fucking stupid and just a continuation of involving the retarded California electorate in the government too much as our awful proposition system has shown.

If Brown is really committed to cutting spending and increasing revenues in a intelligent manner he would be the lesser of two evils but I doubt it.

They both are bad choices, based on their platforms I feel Brown is less likely to do anything that would lead to further long term damage. The biggest issue facing the State is the broken budget process, experience may really mean something here if he is being honest about reforming the process.

Now while I am overall ambivalent about Brown and don't think he really is a great choice I have much more solid objections to Meg Whitman.

Here plans for public safety are archaic and do nothing but cost money with having little effect on the crime rate.
1. She is against legalization of marijuana, which is an implicit endorsement of the failed war on drugs. I am not for complete decriminalization of all narcotics, but what we are currently doing isn't working and we need to change course.
-Brown isn't supporting the legalization, most likely because it isn't a politically viable stance, but acknowledges the voters are going to decide and crafted the guidelines that California law enforcements use to deal with medical marijuana in accordance with the voters will in passing prop 225 in 1996.

2. She wants more prisons and no early release for non-violent offenders. This doesn't reduce the crime rate, it only increases the incarceration rate and costs the state insane sums of money. Prosecuting users is not the solution to crime, out-patient treatment for abuse and job training will go much further to reducing drug use and abuse as well as creating more useful members of society than just locking them up.

3. She opposes gay marriage and supports Prop 8. This is just asinine, I don't care if you like gay people or not but the government has no business legislating what two consenting adults call love or a marriage. This is a matter for religions and spiritual groups not for governments.

I could go on but this is too long already. Both are being retarded in not acknowledging that the budget needs to be a majority issue not a 2/3 vote, this is honestly the biggest problem with our states elected government. But fuck if any candidate could ever get elected saying changing this is a good idea, fucking masses are stupid and just don't get how bad this fucks up our state.
