Can I just give you the $35 you make a year from this game, and in return you give LP the site? This way it will stop sucking so much.

We all hate you,
trendz

heads up tourney would be cool, you probably have the code for that laying around somewhere. might encourage me to start paying for the site if its actually being improved and upgraded every once in a while =D

first of all: damn, why do so many interesting forum posts happen when I am away for a few days so i can't respond fast :-)

But Ryan, I am so glad to see that you responded.

I was thinking of contacting you one of the following days anyway to check if we could do something to help you on the kdicepollwars.blogspot site. My idea was to have 2 polls there.

One with say 5 possible improvements or additions that you think would be possible to do in a short term window (weeks?). I have some ideas, others have posted some in forum and I am sure you have a lot of own ideas (+ you have the best idea of about how long it would take to code them)

A second poll would propose some improvements or additions which would require more work for you. So for these we would be talking months or more.

It would be nice to find out what the kdice community would want as priority improvements so I would be more than happy to help out. If we install the polls, I would do some advertising so as many people as possible participate. I would go post the link on the lower tables too from time to time becasue I think the opinion from members, non-members, experienced and less experienced players all matter here.

Or to contact all, you could mail the link for the poll to your kdice account email list

In response to ma1achai:

One type of flagging I was thinking about was to mimic what actually happens in the game. To be able to say "I flag to red". Then if everyone left playing has flagged to red, red gets first and can go on to play another game. This would continue for second and down. It would also apply upwards. For example, if blue red and teal are left and teal has flagged to blue and red then he get's third and is gone.

sounds good but how about conflicting flags (A flags B , B flags C, C flagged A -> all flags cancelled?)

and if A B C left, A flags B, B flags C -> automatic end where C 1st B 2nd, A 3rd?

would be fun to see it happen

Probably not the right thread to discuss this but...

A flags B , B flags C, C flagged A

In this scenario nobody has all players flagged to him and nobody has flagged to all other players so nothing happens. You would need ALL players to flag or to flag to for something to happen:

A flags B, A flags C => A leaves 3rd
or
A flags B, C flags B => B leaves 1st

The cycle thing happens with two people left:

A flags B, B flags A

Maybe this is a tie or maybe they cancel.

The tricky part with this would be presenting it in a way that's simple and clear. It's a bit more complex and nuanced that the current flagging.

would this eliminate the possibility to backstab

or can you still backstab if you do not flag to everyone and only one person

A flags to C
B flags to A

A and B then kill C for fun

making the flags colored would make it simpler

ie- if you flag to red, your flag is red, if you flag to yellow, your flag is yellow, etc. maybe an icon next to the player you want to flag to and an instaflag in the bottom right corner?

yeah, maybe not for an overall kdice change but it would be cool to see how games would play out if everyone flagged 1st and after that, all his (or her, sorry Loob, Jilly etc etc) lands turned to grey. Then the game could continue for 2nd for the rest unless everyone also flagged to 2nd.

It would have a huge advantage for games where people try to allow say 3 4 to finish their fight before continuing. The winners could go play a new game without losing their dom loss resulting from letting people fight.

Another good thing from this setup would be getting rid of weak sitters. It happens nowadays that the obvious first acepts a weak flag, lets him sit but beasue of the other fights on the board, the weak flagger outlives people. If first turns grey, the weak flagger will have a lot more difficulty stealing a higher place.

This system will have some flaws (the conflicting flags) but th emore I think about it, th emor eI would wanna try it. A simple measure to avoid over half the conflicts would be to automate (and speedup) flagging.

For example: A flags B and C. If D wants to flag A, he will automatically flag B and C too

The post is already long and boring anyway so I 'll add 1 more thing. I see potential unfair strategic (pga)flagging possibilities already. Someone flagging to a small friend to protect him and making it less attractive for others to flag both him and (automatically) his weak buddy. So thats why there should be somethign to prevent manual (not the automatic flags) flagging to a player with much less dice than yourself.
