**WARNING** Attention KDice Players

The little bug that has been exposed is no longer funny. I appreciate it being brought to my attention and I have informed Ryan of it. I'm not sure when it will be corrected, but in the meantime, please heed the following warning.

From the moment this post hits the forum I am officially outlawing the use of this bug at all times. I have banned the Diana Princess account for 7 days thanks to Jily's screenshots. If an account is caught exploiting this bug either by my eyes, another mods eyes, a screen shot, or a video, STARTING NOW I WILL BAN THAT ACCOUNT, VOUCH FOR A BAN OF THAT ACCOUNT'S IP ADDRESS, AND VOUCH TO HAVE RYAN PERMA BAN EVERY ACCOUNT ASSOCIATED WITH THAT IP ADDRESS.

This little bug was funny at first and I'm glad Ryan knows about it, but it's being abused to earn points and it must stop now. This post is fair warning that I will do what I am promising. I will not accept excuses that "you didn't read this post". I suggest word get spread that this matter will be dealt with quickly and harshly from now on.

Thanks for your attention.

Thrax

maybe if ryan would spend more than 2 minutes a month on this site, we wouldnt have to worry about this happening

that or he could let someone patch up his coding for him, think it might be a little more effective than YOU KNOW THAT LOOPHOLE THAT IM TOO LAZY TO FIX? DONT DO IT OR YOURE GONE FOREVER! just my two cents

So you blame Ryan for a player or set of players that had to DISCOVER this loophole at some time and now are spreading it's use by teaching others how to do it? I mean, part of me wants to support you're thought Chase, but the people doing it know it's blatant cheating, so why do it? Why does Ryan need to be their Daddy and take away the destructive toy before they hurt someone? Why should you guys have to be treated like 5 year olds and get slapped on the wrist to remind you when you do things that aren't nice?

Blaming Ryan for this problem is pretty lame. I agree that he doesn't spend a lot of time here and I wish he had a less busy life that allowed him to put some effort into this site. But we all know that isn't the case. In the meantime, I suppose it's too much to ask certain players here to act like adults and avoid using a bug to cheat at an online game.

This is why I have to be EQUALLY AS LAME and make a thread like this to discourage these actions. I didn't like writing this post and I won't enjoy having to request an IP ban for someone if they get caught.

But I will do as I stated.........if forced.

The cheaters have caused this e-mail, not Ryan. Aim your disdain in the right direction...

thrax, this is a mindset that has existed in certain kcircles for over 2 years. it was basically one of the justifications for flagfest.

cocky players actively look for ways to abuse the system through loopholes.

cocky players may or may not inform Ryan of these loopholes.

if they do inform him, they give him limited time to fix the loophole before they start abusing it so that they force him to fix it.

they pat each other on the back for "making the game better by forcing Ryan to fix a loophole."

i admit there is some logic behind the reasoning. its just really really warped.

in the end here is how the battle goes down:
Ryan creates mods with powers.
mods ban people who are abusing loopholes.
people who are abusing loopholes revert to anonymous proxy/alts, and continue abusing loopholes.
eventually Ryan is dragged to his knees and must change the code to prevent the loophole.
cocky players pat each other on the back for a job well done for keeping kdice clean.

having mods is definitely a good thing, but it only forces the cocky players to proxy/alt, which is something that i dont think Ryan can stop easily if at all. sad state of the internet.

i mean, if he REALLY wants to start fighting fire with fire (which is something i would do because my ego is bigger than his), then it would be hilarious to see him start point resetting main accts, and i mean career points.

and then go through the forums, and delete every post made by these accounts or any of their alts. remove them from khistory, that hits them where it hurts the most.

eventually a new crew of players will come around that has never heard of these old cocky players, and has no interest in hearing about any of their exploits.

man that would be hilarious to see Ryan fight back like that. except, i bet i would become collateral damage somehow, heh.

In the end it's all a matter of escalation. The truth behind it is how far will people go to cheat here and far do I have to go with my stance to oppose them? I, like most people here, just want to make the game as clean as possible. This is more difficult than people outside my position (fiero has an idea I guess) give it credit. The only real solution in the end is to ban certain people from the site that want to continually do these types of things. I know proxies can be created and alts and new IPs, etc., but the real question is how far will the escalation be pushed?

The more I ban and reset and moderate, the more people want to test a different limit or try a different scheme. When does it stop?

The obvious hope that these players probably have is that I will eventually get so fed up that I will either A) do something stupid and get stripped or B) realize that banning everyone over and over again is the only option, and not having the will power to do this, resulting in me stepping down.

Hopefully option C or D actually occurs...

C) I have the brass balls to say fuck it and do a banfest and block all types of IP addresses and throw my middle fingers up at the cheaters and tell them to lick my left nut

D) People here actually act like decent human beings and stop cheating/scheming

Option A will never happen......I'm not dumb enough

Option B might happen, only because I like far too many people here including some of the cheating crwod

Option C is pretty likely to happen, even if it's only me going down in a blaze of glory before I step down

Option D is laughable
