I never ran for 1st any time as I happen to be kept from playing enough games by the sad existence of something called "life". I had better ranks prior to the current system. But maybe I am just a slow adapter - they are improving again.

Sometimes counters do occur - I just happen to be on the wrong (aka losing) side to often :-)

people are cowards and flag to early

dominant player in the center, one good stack and the east player flags already... and east player is left with north player to attack, so north player HAS to flag

all the small players flag immedietely, and game continues for the 2nd place

but it's not because of flag system being incorporated to game, because people flag even despite this, when they are on lower or higher positions

it's because some people are simply flagging to early

also, complicated flag situtions are good to exploit... it's not rare for me to flag to two people and end up 1st, without breaking any promises or acting inhonourably... and i do not mean this bullshit which fiero600 just posted on forums recently, with trying to trick people with words - it's lame

i mean, people prefer to flag to dominant player, rather than ally with another medium player... while often the second option gives them better chances for points, fe. flag to dominant gives 3% for win, 60% for 2nd and 25% for 3rd... but the other medium players flag, and you no longer have 60% for 2nd, but just 30% or so... But if you allied with medium player, you outwieght the big one, and you have significant chance to get 1st, and still big chance of 2nd... People don't consider that.
