at 8:55 AM, Thursday August 27, 2009 EDT fiero, a tip from my old guide:
10) dont target your chief opponents until less than a week is left. if you never target your chief opponent, then they will have an easy road to possible victory. if you target them from day 10, then neither of your scores will increase as fast as everyone else's. so theres a balance as to when you should formally start the affair. but, dammit, once the battle is on, target the shit outta them. remind all of your otfs that you want 1st, and youre scared that this other dude might get it. whenever you sit with this person, change priorities from getting 1st to getting more points than him/her. i dont care if that means a -600 5th for you. if it means a -2000 7th for him/her, its worth it. otherwise, theres a chance that you end up 2nd and him 3rd, with only a couple hundred point differential. if you ever catch them playing a game without you, go join the gallery, and try to throw any kind of sly or overt propaganda out to the table to get your opponent prematurely killed. basically, this is a PGE, but its between 1st and 2nd overall, and its a gentlemanly PGE... if you drop all of the negative smear youre loading into the chatboxes against the dude. .... fiero, if you have a 70k lead with 3 days left, its all your own damn fault if you let shad win this month. you gotta be active in beating down your competition at the end of the month. ask sserg, i destroyed him at the end of feb 08, cus he thought it was a level playing field, 1-on-1. wrong. right now, it appears you expect a level playing field from shad. hello! shad is monte jr., and he will metagame in all kinds of ways to tilt the field in his favor, so you gotta be more aware of it, and more actively stop it. |

at 8:58 AM, Thursday August 27, 2009 EDT and moon, your summary of how shad plays seems eerily similar to my metagame strategy: http://kdice.com/strategies/ideas/44759032
the strat never got much love because 1) it was before its time, when hardly anyone grasped the power of manipulation, and 2) it requires being a complete duplicitous asshole, and only the scum of the earth are open to it. |

@monte IF you are good you can wait until the final day, more people are around you can get a solid consistent pge going against someone. It is easier to sustain a jihad for 1 day then 3 or 4. Even better is if you pick a day a few days before the end of the month and chat pwn and target a player close to your crown, then they get on tilt the last couple days and you can rake some easy points from the competition and solidify the win. |

That is a great post. Agree with your points on both flagging and dom. Although I'm not sure what you mean by this: "I would like to see flag and surrender" |

at 12:07 PM, Thursday August 27, 2009 EDT flag and surrender means as soon as you flag you're out of the game, no flagging for place.
the other idea is the old style where everyone at the table had to flag or the game wouldn't end. the reason ryan changed this style was because certain individuals abused this system. With the scoring change from elo to pts, I think the flagging should prob go back to the old style since it cannot be abused as easily. Finally, however, I still maintain that any scoring change won't really make much difference as the userbase is still the same and the kdice entitlement mentality will always exist. |

at 1:05 PM, Thursday August 27, 2009 EDT It was WoW too, don't be soo silly to think it wasn't all of them.
Int the players will be the same but with a different system there might be more routes to gain points creating a variety of playing styles instead of the singular honed crap we see today. Mixing it up breathes new life for a while at least. |

at 1:17 PM, Thursday August 27, 2009 EDT I think that there WAS a battle of playing styles but that is over now, and the point whore shad dice style has won.
Think about it, there were people that played shad dice in the past, cleo, nuff, hatty, stoude, monte to name the most blantant, but there were many others. Bottom line, that style one out and even with a style change, it'll still be the same old boys playing the same old way. |
