In a game with Skrum, someone made a racist remark (called me a nigger). Skrum doing his duty as a mod said "hey". But during the racist's next turn he said in chat (paraphrased) "skrum, stay put, I'll kill fierosmom before you".
I said there was a perception of quid pro quo that skrum had the duty to point out to the racist would not be tolerated. Skrum says he's not responsible for others percption. I say that's crap. Who do you agree with? |

at 1:04 PM, Monday January 5, 2009 EST After the player (let's call him M) made the racist remark, another player said (I think it was fierosmom) said to the effect of "you are saying that when a mod is here?" Then M restated his remark in a polite way and I interpreted that as his having backed down. Then M made his remark about my staying put. After that, for the rest of the game, I was embroiled in an argument with fierosmom about whether I was accountable for someone else's perceptions (The answer, by the way, is no. Jesus was perceived as a winebibber and blasphemer but he was without sin).

at 11:01 PM, Tuesday January 6, 2009 EST Skrum, a long history of rules for public servants says you are wrong.
The racial slur is the not the issue. The issue is that Skrum allowed the person who used the slur to believe it was OK to attack others and not Skrum as payback for ignoring the racial slur. I use to respect Skrum, now I don't. He doesn't understand ethics. |

I gave my references (the court case and Scripture); give yours. Furthermore, you just talked about rules. That means you have reversed your position. Which was about perceptions, not rule, at the start. |
