It was down to 2 players in the tourney.
I had 4000+ points, and Cod4, the second place player had 82 points. I was just about to win the tourney, and then the kdice web page stops responding. I try to refresh, and it's still not working. Then I try loading it through a IP hider, and IT WORKS. MY IP JUST GOT BANNED. WTF???1?!? So i pull a new IP, login, and now the guy who had 82 points to my 4000, now has 4000 and I have 400. Ryan was in the game watching, not talking and refused to tell me why I was banned. I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT CHEAT, NO PGA, EVERYTHIGN WAS IN GAME. I know Bomb was watching, he can attest to this. So Ryan I think you owe me and the kdice community an explanation, why did you give my 1st place to cod4? |

at 10:12 AM, Saturday November 8, 2008 EST cod4, if it wasn't strategic then what do you call it? Was I simply being cruel to you? Do I hate you, your name? Your avatar? No. You hadn't particularly harmed me in the tourney, nor helped me. I was indifferent to you. No matter the point spread, fact was that you were going to be my competitor and I didn't wan to give you any advantage.

at 10:24 AM, Saturday November 8, 2008 EST same thing happened to me in a tournie last week. But nobody got banned
Faerish and Tymbrwulf were both left, I was flagged for a few rounds 2nd and Faerish, in first, started to talk polish to Tymbr, then the next thing I know i'm being attacked by Faerish and as a result I lost the tournament, It sure as hell looked like a PGA :s But yeah, if u interfered in a fight after saying they could it is kinda wrong P.S: I love the kitten as your avvie :D |

at 1:54 PM, Saturday November 8, 2008 EST some here talk about the "no appeal"
It obviously would be rare that Ryan or a mod would change their mind after a ban but what about the folowwing idea. Maybe it can help unban a few % of unjust bannings? If a play ban is installed this fact should be shortly reported and described by the banning mod in a new type of forum category. The banned player gets a chance to post a 500 character max objection and if he wants to , name 1 witness that is then allowed 1 post as well to help defend the case. The mod has 1 short post to respond and the banned player can make 1 final short statement. It's a lot of work for the mods but at least it will give the sense of " a fair trial" for the offenders and the kdice community. As a bonus of this system, these discussions will give examples of what is allowed in kdice and what will stay banned. |

at 3:17 PM, Saturday November 8, 2008 EST CK, i think your strategy (taking out the player most likely to be a threat in the next round) was tactically sound and completely legit. as far as i can see the only issue is that you said you wouldn't attack this guy, and then proceeded to do so. i think most people would say that's a little backhanded and as far as i can see that's all you were punished for. it's really bad luck that this happened in the last round of a tournament though, without anyone having been told this was a massive offense before.. as far as i knew it was just bad etiquette.

at 3:29 PM, Saturday November 8, 2008 EST guys thats part of the point of Ryans post. he wants to improve higher table etiquette, so put your napkins on your laps, stop using you salad fork on the steak, and keep your elbows off of the freaking table.

at 4:26 PM, Saturday November 8, 2008 EST Enough with the appeals crap. The top tables have been a mess for a while and no delicate democratic process is going to fix it. I and most of the other players on the site hate the favoritism that happens at the top tables. I can't enlist anyone from the top tables to help in this process with any degree of certainty that they won't be biased. Therefore I have to hack down the people who don't want to play nice until there is a solid enough culture to handle top play with fairness and integrity.
CK if you got caught in this mess that sucks but you'll reap the rewards from the process in the future. You'll gain that 1000 point loss in the tournament back through all the games you play where you don't have people teaming against you. If you truly are innocent in this then you should be happy that something is being done and it will be much easier to play with your pure play style in the future. |

at 5:32 PM, Saturday November 8, 2008 EST I understand not wanting CoD4 to have second because he is the stronger player (scorewise) of the two. From the way this reads though (and I obviously did not see the game), if you agree to let someone fight for second and accept their flag in the chatbox (which cod says you did), then you should honor it. You could flatly deny it outright... I think that is fine, but don't go back on your word...
Once you pull yourself out of the fight... for whatever reason... I believe it it unfair to come back in later and try to determine the winner. Regardless of the position you are in when the flag is accepted (you might be way more powerful), by accepting, you stop all attacks from coming your way. You can sit back and build up... then decide who you want to win. I don't think that is a fair way to play... if you didn't want cod to get 2nd, you should not have accepted his flag to begin with. All that being said... I agree with you that the punishment was probably too harsh for the 'crime'... but I guess if he wants to clean the game up, that these types of actions get the word out... zero tolerance for anything deemed (by Ryan) unfair play. That is just the way it is... |
