How do you respond to "advice"?

-How do you respond to "advice"?

After just visiting a 2500 table, I was reminded of something I can't stand, and having been around the block on kdice quite a bit, I have heard it a lot on any level of table: people telling others how to play their game, during the game. Talking strategy in the forums or even in a truce is fine with me, but I honestly can't stand it when someone tells me or another person where to go or what rolls will work, or who to attack.

Now, I may have just written my epitaph for getting up above 2,500 points, but It bites my ass and has always gotten em when someone says "8v6 red" or "teal, cut him", varying in degrees based upon their participation or what point it is in the game. For example, if you're not in the game, my policy is shut the hell up about people playing and what to do. I've heard it from CoMik and just saw Montecarlo (not saying it's only them and that it's for any specific reason) and many others shout out to people what to do and which rolls to make.

Now, of course you have a partial say or stake in a game you may have just dropped out of, or it be a "polite" request (I am guilty of this; asking a player to not focus on hitting me or to one-hit me), but blatant moves and decisions should be left up to who is in the game.

Now, now, I'm sure this may ruffle feathers of many players who just do this of habit or for cheerleading, but I find it extremely rude. I mean, if you're telling a guy I'm contending for second against to cut me or hold out against me to let me lose my dice, not only will I catch on, it's adding insult to injury if I am some sort of "thing" to be taken down.

It also has a negative effect on the guy performing the action called out- how embarrassing is it to end up listening to someone on the sidelines tell you what to do just to win? can't you do it yourself?

I refrain that it's the strict "do this red; cut him green, brown and yellow should truce" kinda crap that irritates me. I am always open to a quick suggestion of another option of attack from a fellow kdicer, but never blatant hand-holding that really ruins the experience in some heated games. And again, I may not make any friends with this, but regardless of my score it frustrates me to no end.

So, whether you read my complaint or not, how do you respond to "advice" form the sidelines? Embrace it, reject it?

Is it OK if we stick to using the third person? Like Howard Cosell? That is, talking to other people in the gallery about how brilliant or how dumb the players' moves are? Maybe we could have a special mute option /mute second person.

So even after I explain myself, no one really gets it- This thread is an example of how this place is a joke. Of course, now I'm just another who bitches and complains and you'll toss me off everywhere I go, eh?

To be honest biteme, I don't really know what the hell you mean by Pat Whalen, I never really cared that damn much about this little soap opera that has become of the regulars at KDice. It's irrelevant and annoying to the game, except it benefits those who participate.

Angry uninformed rant? Perhaps, and please, go ahead and poke holes in it. I enjoy criticism. What really sparked me is how I started this thread with an innocent intention to get people's responses about the topic, and instead I get a load dumped on me from said "Peanut Gallery".

But I'm done playing the role of the "nice guy" frolicking in the forums. Here's my diagnosis, ignorant and simple: It's no secret that people rig games with PGA, PGE, and whatever other retarded acronyms for their cheating ways. Ryan wants it to stop, but either focuses his attention on other improvements on KDice or him and his advisors choose haphazard ways of dealing with such problems by banning those believed involved or reducing points to "make it fair". Meanwhile anyone other than the regulars won't give two shits because they're Ryan's target "casual" players.

My point is clear: if this game is to flourish in the future, corruption needs to be dissolved.

Now, what do you think? Am I wrong? Am I grossly ignorant? What don't I know? Why should we keep things the way they are? Tell me, I'd love to know

Look, I'm talking to a wall here. I'm just going to give it up. It's not like I'm fighting for anything or shit like that, so there you go.

Again, KDice has proved to be a huge waste of time.
