Whereas, the royalty speaks out to protect the aristocracy from the encroachment of the lower classes! Seek judgment from the crown and censure the adventurous upstarts. This is tradition.

"Our family can be traced for generations. We count ourselves lucky not to be a member of the 'new moneyed'."

i really feel that the bourgeoisie/proletariat distinction is defunct in kdice now. i feel the reason it has become that way is that the upper crust reached a critical volume several months ago. there became so many accepted personalities on the higher tables, and at the same time, the number of awarded trophies remained constant. basically, the level of competition dramatically increased.

so the 'old boys club' became too big to be an 'old boys club', since not every old boy could be appreciated and rewarded with a nice trophy.

so the 'old boys club' degenerated back into a group of friends who were in tight competition with each other each month.

case in point is my relationship with captainLAGER: way back when, we both respected each other a lot, and wouldn't choose to initiate battles with each other very often. however, now, whenever we sit at a table together, we are at each others throats, trying to manipulate the rest of the table (especially newer players) to side with us against the other one of us.

so (at least in my experience), the 'old boys club' is banished. newer players are actually benefitted, greatly, by this change.

if it comes down to a decision to 1) give higher placement to an 'old boy', or 2) give higher placement to a newer player, i now more often choose to give it to the newer player, since he probably won't have such a large ego or such grand expectations of getting a trophy, whereas if i benefit the 'old boy', theres a higher chance now that that hurts my chances in the end of the month placement.

i mean, i dont hate on all the 'old boys' now, we still all have immense respect for each other... but a competition is a competition: 100 people get trophies, and 101st doesn't get shit. may the best man win, but ive got too much ego to gladly take a 101st and let another 'old boy' take 100th.

so please stop with the 'old boys club' references. its been dead for awhile now.

This is a strong claim for total reformation. Things were admittedly that way before, but are totally not so now?

That is a fair enough opinion.

I would salute you if your game has personally evolved to be more favorable to the new players. I think your advices on the previous page were solid as well.
