Well still nothing has changed

I come back to see if anytthing had changed for the better. After playing a hundred games i see nothing has changed. The scoring system coupled with the flagging system has encouraged poor sportsmanship, defeatist attitude (ill flag early to get more points), and still a reward system only for those that play too many games.
After playing a hundred games and having 44% of my games in the top three places here was my score for the month
325◆
Now those that know me know that i am a decent player and at least better than average. That being said an average player would still have little incentive to continue to play when she or he is stuck playing the random lower levels and never learning the advanced, nuanced strategies that only happen at the 500 and above.

I know the number of return players has dropped dramatically and I think this is the main problem. I once again would recommend to ryan that if he wants this game to thrive then he must adopt a scoring system that doesn't punish previous games accomplishments. there is no need for negative scores. give 7th 0 points, 6th 1/28th of the point pool, 5th 1/14th of the pool, 4th gets 3/28ths of the pool, 3rd gets 1/7th, 2nd gets 2/7ths, first gets the rest. Well whatever happens good luck to you all and i hope in the future you all figure this out.

In other words, bring ELO back.

No. I'd get +2 for a win back then and -30 for 7th.

Elo isn't the answer. Keep what you've got. People aren't leaving because of the score changes. They're leaving because of the people.

Uhh, actually, the opposite is true. Unless this is an alt account, you haven't been playing before August 2007. More than a few players who were active in early 2007 have come back.

And while I agree that there shouldn't be a negative, that would still suck, since the people who play 50 games a day would have scores well into the hundred thousands, even millions.

Also, it seems to be a painful change whenever Ryan has a scoring update. there's always a problem with this or that, which while natural, still ends up with people complaining about the same things. Sandboxes aren't good enough because only hard core players or those who go above and beyond just kdice (the forum, Facebook group) aren't going to try it, therefor, there's no way to really get a good system.

Also, everyone cheats, soo, there.

To both dizzle and freak
Unless you have some way to back up your statements that the community is growing I will stand by my statement that it is not. When I look at my friends list, about 80% are gone. If you dont see a problem then dont worry. Personally I do.

And another thing! The flagging system is so heinous. not a game goes by that someone doesnt get screwed by its bizarre meaning. Someone flags and they are in the way, well that makes them fair game. Someone attacks and then flags in second but they are not in striking distance for 3rd and 4th so its up to 1st to decied and then they are at fault for thier decision. This does not add to the strategic gameplay, I feel it dilutes it. anyway peace and good luck

Flagging sucks.
Traffic is way down.

Besides being cocky and stating as fact that you are better than average...

44% 1-3..... why is that significant? if you finish every place equally... it leaves you at 43% 1-3... 43% 5-7 and 13-14% 4'th and umm...
that being said..you did it all against brand new players at 0 tables.....

that ALL being said... i enjoy the lower tables much more than the higher tables, and find them a lot easier.

At the 0 and 100 tables, there's are very few organized PGA teams, and you can truce your way out of all kinds of situations...

I understand that PGA has ruined the game at the top for the most part, but TRUCE is still a very important aspect of the game, and it's an aspect that these players must master before they are ready to compete up top anyways.

Anyways, I feel like traffic has gone up, and Ryan is doing an excellent job. Now that Dice Wars DS is out...maybe more and more people will get hooked onto this game. Stop hating on the game....

well, growing always, yes. Also, more people are returning. Mikeypoo, SarahPlaying, Algios, to name a few. Also, I'm pretty sure something will be done about the state of the flagging, but that's just a hunch. Since, while Ryan has done a great job of enhancing his connection with the community using Blog and Advisors, We still have yet to really hear from him concerning anything.
