Ryan, reduce my 2500 points bonus

Hi Ryan,

I donated $5 to the development of the site, and a way for me to thank you. I didn't expect to get 2500 points bonus. I don't want them!!! I want to be scored only on my achievements, and not buy success with money. Please take them back.

thanks,
Dotan.

Dotan, I must say it was really an honorable thing to refuse those points like that. I really admire your choice.

I intend to donate a few more times to Ryan in the future as well but I have a few milestones in mind for that. It will not be to get the extra points but to thank and support him for these new improvements (leagues/improved forum/...). However, I would keep the free points but that's just me.

I don't know how to give a good description of my idea in English but maybe we should have "$5 sponsored want lists" for a few widely awaited new futures so people can subscribe to those and promise to donate $5 if Ryan could install the improvement. Personally I would at least sign up for the leagues and defenitely for a forum edit button. With this system, Ryan could see which improvements/additions were most wanted and could focus on the things that people are prepared to pay the most for? Sadly, I fear that not enough people will be prepared to follow my example and voluntarily pay for this new stuff but hey, it was just an idea

What is the leagues concept?

well the great thing about the leagues concept is that it has an infinite number of possibilities.

The current monthly competition should stay the backbone of kdice but you could add many extra variations of the game we all love.

Not every player has the time each month to play 250 or more games. A high stake league with say 50 games a month would be ideal for all those excellent players that can't play many games a month but still would like to be in some sort of competition with the other very best. Unfortunately it would be a competition for a group of 100 players maximum. I know this sounds a bit elitist but actually, that's mainly the goal of this type of league: to let the very best compete head to head and have a competition that isn't influenced by the number of games you can play each month.

This thing could be played at the first half of every month, when the 2500/10k aren't too active yet (other benefit: good players could have high stake games all month long). I think you could have an amazing competition with the top25 from the previous month + each player that won at least 1 gold/silver/bronze or at least 5 blue (hehe: by pure coincidence that also includes me) and a few wildcard players. Also, for the newcommers that want to start playing the 2500 tables, this would be the ideal place to watch a few games and learn.

But there could be many other leagues that would be accesible to all players: teamdice (3 v 3 players); elo rank; flag = surrender; only points for 1st; 16 dice; 4 dice ; 1 v 1; 1 v 1 starting with all 8 stacks (yeah to practise your luckfest skills); quikdice (game ends after 10 rounds, most dice wins); anonymous - no chat; minimaps; huge maps; basically ANYTHING.

Unfortunately Ryan said this before and it's true: we need a larger kdice community for this.

So people, please do like I do, if I find a new Belgian game site or a game forum: ADVERTISE A BIT FOR KDICE!

I think the league concept, which allows players to compete on a base of 50 games a month is a great idea. People really have limited time for all their activities and obligations.
I don't understand yet how will you set the time for the games.
I think it should begin with league A and league B, each of 50 players, and set a large changeover between the leagues. lets say, lowest 20 of league A falls to league B, while 20 best of league B replace them. 20 lowest of league B are replaced by the 20 best of last month competition (from those who are not already in the leagues) or the 20 best of league C, if there would be one. etc...

Good luck!

p.s. it really amazes me how many different nationalities there is in a community of 10000 players. How did you heard about the game? how do you think the others?
I came through a friend who introduce me Kdice, I brought a friend and he brought 2, which may have bring others. In this pace, there should be 100,000 players...

Kdice being an international sport might indeed be a challenge for the 50 game league. I play most of my games during European office hours but I also love my early mornings and evenings where I can play with the American players. I think these common time slots for US/Europe will be ideal for these league games to be organised (or at least 33-50% of the games).

I discovered kdice.com on a belgian website called zattevrienden.be (the site got renamed recently to http://www.zv-magazine.be/sfw/). Jpc4p, FYI, that roughly translates into drunkenfriends.be. It's a site that offers daily fun facts; free online game links; free hot babe pictures; in short everything a healthy belgian needs to get through his busy work day.

Actually it was at the beginning of 2007 that kdice was posted, maybe I should contact them again to repost kdice.

As usual, Jurgen“s proposals are interesting and well argued. The league idea is simply great and the need to bring new players to the site is a fact.

I disagree about the "$5 wish list", I mean, I'll keep supporting the site while I have fun here, I don't want (more) free points, so I'll donate with alts.

On a side note, my brother brought me to kdice (yes, I blame you Jorge, now stop talking mum about my addiction), that was around Nov 2006.

nuf, I kinda agree the $5 wish list idea sucks and actually will never work. I will keep donating unconditionally to the site as well but I just have 3 or 4 major upgrades in mind where I will immediately donate more as a thank you to Ryan.

BTW, does Jorge still play kdice?

Nah, Jorge became a wii-addict. Shame.
