Good suggestion.

Anything that makes it harder for a new player to crack the top 100 is a bad idea.

This has been discussed before in many topics in many incarnations of the same idea, but anything that gives an edge to top players (already) is a bad idea.

i see where you are coming from grun however, i see this as incentive to try and crack the top 100!

members get extra points, which i personally believe is wrong, points should be earned on the tables and not bought.

just giving the non members a view u know?

Members getting extra points is understandable. It is not an outrageous sum, but a headstart on the month. The money goes to support the game and keep everything going. I can't see a reason to argue with that.

However, the need for new blood in the top 100 is good. Players who think they'll never make it to the top 100... finally crack into it.. this is a big moment for them, they take a screenshot maybe, tell their friends - and this promotes the game as more people find out about it.

Anything which makes it easier to retain a top 100 spot through a reward, regardless of whether it's obtained by good play, is a bad idea because it creates a country-club atmosphere in the top.

Besides, a top 100 place is worthwhile because a player earns it.

If top 100 players feel nonchallant about being in the top 100... and EVERY other player thinks they'll never make the top... there might be an exodus of players.

It's just no good. Is it a nifty idea? sure - in regards to having *some* additional reward, perhaps. But points as the reward should be out of the question.

I definitely enjoy the benefit of being a member. Not having to slog through the 0 tables is an enormous benefit. But with regard to the end of the month scoring, I would not at all object if the 2500 member bonus was deducted and points were calculated strictly on what has been won at the tables. I also agree that giving a points bonus, whether staggered or not, is probably a bad idea.

Hey Awes, I know you weren't around all the time last months when the stars = points drama happened. Anyway, I still think it might be an interesting idea to reward the players with medals with a few extra starting points at the beginning of the month.

In fact I proposed this several times then to counterbalance the 2500 points for $5 donations. But now that this loophole seems closed there is no need anymore for such high numbers you propose.

At the time I think I proposed 2500/2000/1000/500/250 for 1st/2nd/3rd/top25/top100. With the current lack of point buying, I would say 1000/750/500/250/100 will do.

I agree with the people that say it can't influence the ranks too much for the new good players that want to make top100/top25. But I also think that a reasonable number of extra points would be a nice reward for the players that invested time in kdice to get a few medals.

1 last point: I think this idea won't make it unless Ryan only gives this reward to members. Somewhat unfair I know, but if non-members could get it too, it reduces the incentive to buy membership.
