at 10:55 PM, Saturday May 17, 2008 EDT Seriously though, the trend to flag so quickly is utterly killing the fun factor in games, for me, personally. And I have a feeling others feel the same way but nobodys saying anything because it’s “just the way it is.” Well I don’t like defeatist mentalities in anything so I’m gonna stand what I feel is right.
The last 10 games I’ve played ALL have involved everyone flagging prior to round 5… it’s really sickening. Most of the time, I don’t even know who they are flagging TO. And that bugs me. Playing for first is not fun anymore? Point arguments aside, why the hell DO YOU sit down when you go to a table? I’m there to win. Bigstacks break constantly in kdice, yet if someone gets so much as a corner established and one or two 5 stacks… people are flagging as though the U.S. army has their house surrounded with 50 tanks, apache helicopters overhead.. and you’re sitting there in a glass enclosed porch with a water-gun (and it’s not even a supersoaker). Talk, make alliances or ally up against a leader, but don’t yield so quickly. Yeah, the game is about points, but you make the same or MORE points by getting an occasional first you wouldn’t have sometimes by not flagging vs the points you lose extra by not flagging safely 3rd for example, when you could have. (ex: +600 for an unlikely comeback first, and +0, +6, -5 for a few 3rds or 4ths VS +100 +200 +150 +whatever for safely flagging a bunch of times likely averages out to the same points overall ) Leaders lose and it happens all the time. That really is the core of the funfactor in kdice, the unpredictability. But it’s being entirely killed with these cookie cutter games. I grow sad, because this is so needless. And I cant believe im actually about to say this. But what ever happened to alliances? 2 and 3 NEVER bunch up vs #1 anymore… why the hell not? Did that suddenly become a stupid tactic, because last I remember, that’s pretty freggin genius… you both ensure a top2finish plus a chance at first.. Cmon top dogs, don’t let me down. If you have fun playing and flagging so fast, then yeah, ignore this. But if you miss something about how the game is changing, lemme know. Keep kdice beautiful. Play to win. |

at 11:29 PM, Saturday May 17, 2008 EDT Well, I think there's a serious disconnect between the community and its mods then. A SERIOUS diconnect.
I have taken all of *four* actions moderating since ive gotten mod rights. One was a guy spamming the N word at a table, everyone at the table was sick of it - and when I warned him, he called me that as well and kept spamming the chatbox. I muted him, then explained in the chatbox that I would ban him for days if he kept it up - then I toggled it BACK ON. He did it again, this time spamming the chatbox, lol - so I took his playing rights away to the cheers of the table. (returned the rights within 48 hours and explained on his page why) Mods should only be moderating in such cases. Minor cussing infringements or whatever is totally ignored - god knows I cuss like a sailor too. There is no SS around here, and surely if someone is abusing their rights, they need their badge stripped. |

at 11:39 PM, Saturday May 17, 2008 EDT There's no disconnect. As Sophi will tell you I'm a troll...or more accurately I don't believe in moderators. The N word? Where'd you hear that stupid term? You've been conditioned by the media that you can't say niger? Give me a break. Yea the term is stupid and vile, and people who use it are morons, but so what. People have a choice to not listen. I'm just a cookie so what do I know.

at 11:49 PM, Saturday May 17, 2008 EDT That's not the point. The point was that the whole table was annoyed at the guy and it was pissing them off.
Someone came to a table I was playing at and called me over. The guy had been spamming in the chatbox and nobody was able to talk and it was pissing everyone off. The fact the guy was sayin the N word wasn't the real offense, it was that he was preventing 6 people from enjoying the game, two of which were cussing at the guy to stop, cuz they were THAT ticked off. And I call it the N word cuz AS a mod I try not to cuss cuz im tryin to have an upstanding image and all that crap. Don't get me started on the media. I understand you dont like mods at all, but it's a fuckin fact of life that games like this, especially if they are going to branch out and have a huge population and grow need to AT LEAST show they monitor flagrant behavior. Ry works his ass off making games, xsketch, scoring changes, etc. Damn right he wants to get paid more for ads, etc, don't blame him. Don't get me started on the media tho. Thing is, mods just gotta chill the hell out and not go mute happy JUST because they can. |
