A tri-monthly reset

In previous posts I have addressed to what I believe is a loss of the incentive for the casual player to actively participate. Ryan, no doubt you have read those posts and thought about them at least for a second. I at least tried to put thought into them, unlike the countless "OMG! PGA! PGA!" posts that litter these forums.

I believe that with the monthly resets, there is no incentive for the casual player. Many people would like to slowly work their account up, in a manner similar to the older elo format.

(12:08:27 AM) Wavelength: I think I'd still play every once in a while if they didn't keep resetting my stats

I know that there'd be a few changes that would have to be implemented for this to happen, but Ryan, I feel that by resetting the accounts every month you are discouraging people to play. I think that a tri-monthly reset would give sufficient incentive for people to play.

You could also implement two (slightly) different scoring systems. There could be a monthly score (similar to the daily increase, but over the month) and the aggregate score for the 3 month period. I doubt that the aggregate scores would break 750,000. This would allow more higher tables (10k?) to be played, thereby increasing the competition among the top players. On the lower tables this would give something for younger players to aspire to.

At the beginning of each month, the monthly scores would be reset to zero, while aggregate scores would be reset on a tri-monthly basis. Players could sit at tables, with the table maximum dependant on their aggregate score, not the monthly score. You could allow players to dip into the negative scores only for the monthly scores, but once their aggregate scores hits zero, they are no longer penalized until they have more points. The person with the largest gain over a month period would win the month. This would also decrease somewhat the elo dependancy on the top 25 (So you don't get Riser's 30 game: 5th place syndrome) because having more aggregate points doesn't necessarily mean that you will get more points per game.

I feel that either Skrum or Nuflis could run some statistics for you if you wanted.

That is all for now.

PS. Yes, maybe that means I'd play a game or two each month.

That last thought wont work for me int, every solstice I have to go to the goat-slaughtering ritual in town and that shit takes all day. I can't miss the last day of playing like I did in February, then Sserg would barely catch me each time.

Actually, I think you're wrong. I think there should be a reset once a day. And instead of people just going to the next game, they actually die when they lose. It would make the game a lot more fun/challenging.

causal players by definition are here just to have fun, not for the score like those hard core players. you are proposing this change to benefit the hard core players, not the causal ones.

nice smoke screen though.
