luck question

How exactly is the "luck" statistic calculated? I thought that average luckiness was supposed to be 50%, but it looks like it is actually somewhere around 49%. (For instance if you look at the top 25 players, who have all played a lot and should be approaching the expectation, none are above 49.3%.)

Anyway, math loser just wondering...

I don't know how Ryan does it, but if I were to calculate a luck statistic, it would be the difference between actual attack success and predicted attack success, summed over all attacks, and the difference between actual defense success and predicted defense success, summed over all defends. The attack stat is likely to have a more significant impact than the defend stat, because the attack stat is under the control of the player, while the defend stat is the mix of attack results of a group of opponents. The defend stat is likely to "wash out" to zero. Players that take more risks on attacking are likely to show more negative attack stats.

I also wonder how much the luck stats change during the course of the game and how much this change depends on the skill of the player.
