I'm going to add a 'how to play' page.

Anybody want to submit contributions? Grun?

No advanced strategies, just simple gameplay.

Always 2v3. If you lose, you lose one dice, if you win, you get two.

Im busy during christmas, but ill get right on it, Ry.

I'll do something with bulleted points for players who really want super simple how to's and very basic strategy. Then I'll write a paragraph-style little intro to the game and gameplay.

Probably can have it done sometime around thursday.

Cleo’s simple specific rules – part I

I. At the very beginning:

Choose your name in such a way, that it will be easy for other players to relate to you. It will help you in social relationships in the future. If you name your account „asdtuhcergg” – don’t expect others to use it! Remember – you may change your picture very easily, but you can’t change the name of your account.

If additionally the first letter of your name will be close to the beginning of alphabet, people who add you as your friend will have this information easily available.

II. Before you sit at the table:

Don’t purposefully sit at the same table with your friends, unless you want to treat them the same way as other players. If you begin to relay on so called „pre-game alliance” (pga) you will destroy the pleasure of playing both for yourself and for others.

III. When waiting for teal:

You may make the time of waiting more interesting using the chat box – by greeting others or starting simple conversations. You will be surprised how helpful it may be later during the game!

When the table is almost full – better concetrate, as the first person (it may be you) has really little time for her/his move.

IV. The first turn:

1. Estimate your situation

The first step is to estimate your initial situation. If you have a great start (for example two five-dice stacks at the border of the map) – for sure your goal should be to win the game; if the start is really bad (four stacks, each at a different corner) – you should lower your expectations, which doesn’t mean you can’t win!

2. Where to concetrate

Decide on which part of the map you want to concentrate. Base your decision on your stacks position, potential connections ways and other players’ plans. It’s better to be in the part of the map others are not so much interesting in. It’s usually better to be at a side of the map, not in the center.

3. What to connect

They key decision in the first turn is how much risk to take in connecting your forces. With no risk there is no winning, and you gain most points by winning games, so you must take some risk.
The most typical attacks are 4:3 and 5:4. According to the Dice Roll Probabilities from Wikipedia, you should win about three out of for 4:3 attacks (74,3%) or a little more than seven out of ten 5:4 attacks (71,8%). So such risk is worth taking.
But if in order to succeed you need two such attacks, the probability of success is only slightly greater than one out of two (51,5 to 55 %).
Equal attacks – 4:4, 3:3 etc may be good only as additional ones, as the chance to win them is smaller than 50%.

Depending on your temperament you may play more cautiously or more aggresively. Attacking all what’s possible may bring success if you have a lot of luck or other players will not take back your weak teritories, so usually it is not the best strategy.
But in certain cases in may be good to take a few teritories in one area with the hope of good restack at other places.

Typically I would say that in the first turn in you should take 2-3 new teritories.

If you don’t see any good opportunities for the first move, you may wait (or take just one new territory) and let others do their moves and – hopefully – some mistakes. In this way you’ll save your bigger stacks and new opportunities may arise.

4. Having disconnected territories

As the amount of new dice you get depends on how many connected territories you have, it is good to have them in one piece. So – if you concetrate in one area, what to do with your stacks which are not connected?
Some players suicide them to allow others take them. It may work well in some cases, but done too early may cause three disadvantages:
- you may lose your main territories and stay with nothing;
- such additional stack might be helpful for later connections;
- such suicide makes game easier for others, and your main goal is to win with them...

So I would suggest being more flexible and not suicide such stacks too hastly.

5. Thinking ahead

All the time analyse moves of others and try to predict what their goals are and what they may want to do in near future. Observe who plays more aggresively and who more cautiously.
Adjust your plans accordingly. For example – why take a territory through which another player will make in a while an obvious connection?

6. Don’t lose patience

Some players after losing one key 4:3 attack make a serious of risky, rash attacks, losing all their stacks. Don’t do that! Many games are won after really bad start, but due to good playing later.

But playing second and following turns is another topic...
