Points awarded per game according to in-game performance rather than place

It's as the title says, really.
One of the most annoying types of kdice game is when you are in first, and remain in first for the entire game until two, weaker, players truce against you and you are forced to flag for third, unless, of course, you have amazing luck and take them both down. If you have say, 17 stacks, and they beat you down to 12, you'll still have the same number of points, or more, as long as you are in first. But the second that one of them gets to equal or one stack more than you, despite the fact that they have done nothing all game, despite how hard you have fought against two players to keep first, they suddenly have more points than you. This is evidently unfair, to use a cliche word, and it would be great if something could be done about it in the new system. My idea, although it's not at all fully formed and is completely up for discussion, would be for each player's score to go up or down individually based on how they performed in the game, and for them to keep that number of points when they flagged, rather than flagging to whatever the set flag was for third or fourth at this point. A couple of things before I finish this post- 1. I am aware of the other thread I created. It produced some interesting viewpoints, but doesn't need to be brought up here, as it isn't relevant. 2. See, I can use capital letters at the beginning of my sentances sometimes. |

at 12:15 PM, Saturday December 1, 2007 EST Hi Sophie!
Ryan had a similar idea near the beginning of this year; that's where dominance came from. While it would be nice to reward everyone who plays a good game, unfortunately this game has winners and losers -- and the scoring needs to reflect that. |
