Points awarded per game according to in-game performance rather than place

It's as the title says, really.
One of the most annoying types of kdice game is when you are in first, and remain in first for the entire game until two, weaker, players truce against you and you are forced to flag for third, unless, of course, you have amazing luck and take them both down. If you have say, 17 stacks, and they beat you down to 12, you'll still have the same number of points, or more, as long as you are in first. But the second that one of them gets to equal or one stack more than you, despite the fact that they have done nothing all game, despite how hard you have fought against two players to keep first, they suddenly have more points than you. This is evidently unfair, to use a cliche word, and it would be great if something could be done about it in the new system. My idea, although it's not at all fully formed and is completely up for discussion, would be for each player's score to go up or down individually based on how they performed in the game, and for them to keep that number of points when they flagged, rather than flagging to whatever the set flag was for third or fourth at this point. A couple of things before I finish this post- 1. I am aware of the other thread I created. It produced some interesting viewpoints, but doesn't need to be brought up here, as it isn't relevant. 2. See, I can use capital letters at the beginning of my sentances sometimes. |

This would also prevent the kind of PGA where one player, having grown huge, keeps another player's 1stack safely behind them for the entire game, and then flags for second, having taken everyone else out, to give the single stack first, and all the points that went with it. I've seen this happen many times, but I won't name names. |

at 10:02 AM, Friday November 30, 2007 EST If you know they are going to gang up on you, challenge them to do it. They will be attacking with fewer reserves (if they accept) and you might be able to knock one of them out more easily.

at 3:00 PM, Friday November 30, 2007 EST we already have that, they are called dom points.
so you get some points based on your overall finish in the game and some for your performance ingame. |

at 5:42 PM, Friday November 30, 2007 EST I think this is a great idea. Having fixed points for place is really anoying. i always seem to end up loosin 1st to a 2nd and 3d truce. And i know its my own fault because i shouldnt let them get so big, but thats harder than it sounds! oh and that protecting a 1 stack for an entire game, an them still getting decent points really takes the piss.
