Frustrations from sitting at the kids' table

Big Jumblies said something in another thread about how there used to be a "separate adult kdice" before the scoring change. I had never really thought of it that way, but I think it really is a clever way to describe one of the biggest disadvantages of the new scoring.
I think with the elimination of the old 2000s and that the scores reset every month so there is no way to keep a high rank, you not only lose the closeknit community of the old tables (I know this point has been discussed already a lot so I wont any further), but another severe disadvantage of the new scoring is not just losing the small group, but having to deal with the open mass of the lower tables every month.
I didn't really mind it last month after the initial scoring change, but having to do it again this month has really exasperated this annoying difference.
The subpar play, poor sportmanship, and seemingly random alliances on the lower tables have started to make the game less fun...even with the almost tedious need to rebuild your score every month aside- I really could just do without having to continually play with people who rely on calling everyone "fag," "gay," or other immature/vulgar insults.
Is it a coincidence that the old 2000s lacked this poor attitude? Could this problem be amended someway with the new scoring? Or, is this just something that anyone would have to deal with in an online gaming community like any other (Halo, Starcraft, etc...)?

Not sure how to solve the problem, but I thought I would sort of vent/try and see what others think.

There's a mute function for a reason.

I'd say that the new system helps out high ranked players because they can still play lvl 10 tables, up to a certain point, to bulk up their scores.

what silverfox said was very true. i happened to me 80% of the time when i play the 200 table.

you know you are in trouble when people are saying, 'hey, long time no see', 'where have you been', hiya _name_ (not their user name but their real name).

it's a boy's club there and unless you conform to their 'rules', dont even think of winning at a 200 table.

blah blah person who is not me. 200 tables are like 10++ tables. there is no boys club there.

Speaking from personal experience, I eventually made it to the 2000 tables through legitimate hard work. Which was much harder at first, as you said, because it seemed everyone was against me.

Your problem is you stopped playing the game. I learned that at the higher levels the game becomes more "mental" and less "physical".
I actually found it easier because I am better at the mental game.
Once you develop your tactical skill, sharpen your social and diplomatic skills.

I made it to 2nd rank for August. So the clique's there I dont think have a big effect.
I think they just happened to be more respectful people in general.

Most of the immature fools didn't last long on the 2000 tables. They ended up back where they belonged, because they don't know how to play.

I've been playing kdice for a month or so, so i don't have experiance with the ELO scoring. I learned a little under Sept's format, and am slowly getting the hang of OCT's big risk/big reward system.

As i resident of the kiddie tables til i get better nad build my score, is that this month the 10pt tables are generally occupied by players who should be playing at more advanced tables. I just checked the current tables and there are rankings of 793, 787, 564, 478, 416...

It's a bit intimidating when you are new and join a game and there seems to be a player who should be at the 200+ tables. I've been told its because the 200+ tables are too risky to play on and they don't want to risk their ranking.

Is there a max limit for the 10 pt tables. ( I know you can't join 0 pt if you are > 100) Should 500+ rankings be playing against competitors of similar rankings? Is playing at the kiddie tables a form of point farming?

Or am i just a newbie and this is how kdice is played?

Sorry if I'm being naive, gotta go kick my 3 year olds ass in Candyland now...

I agree... the biggest problem with the new version is the competitive vs casual player.

I am in no way trying to sound elitest. There is a difference between someone who is just playing for fun and someone who is playing to rank.

It's a huge problem to sit at a table where no one cares about their points, but you do. Sitting there waiting for someone to suicideflag and ruin everything you have built up.

I know that the elo game wasn't perfect, but at least you didn't have to worry about playing with assholes.

I was a 1600 and I would talk to people on the 2k tables, so that when I made it up I pretty much already knew everyone. But I enjoyed talking to them even if I couldn't play. I had some great intellectual conversations with people of varying viewpoints that I never would have met otherwise.

Anyone who ever thought there were separate adult tables is actually quite childish.

Don't take it literally - a better way of putting it is that the level of play in 2000 tables vs. 1500 tables was analogous to adult vs. child, pro vs. noob, $30-60 limit hold'em vs. $1-2, graduate student vs. undergrad, Kobe Bryant vs. Toronto Raptors, etc...
