at 11:33 AM, Sunday September 9, 2007 EDT How about this: Have different version of kdice? kdice for the ELO-likers and jdice for the others? Like a permanent sandbox.
Is it possible? |

at 12:01 PM, Sunday September 9, 2007 EDT the new system sucks.
everyone quits too quickly in order to gain a few measly points. the losses are much more severe and the wins don't compensate. there is no time for maneuvering cause everyone quits so that dont have such severe losses. its not half as much fun. |

at 12:26 PM, Sunday September 9, 2007 EDT It looks like the new version has a giant exploit where 1st harbors last to milk points. Last is fine (by then end), because eventually everyone between 1st and last is squeezed out and he-who-was-last is now 2nd (and finally flags).
Bah. |

i love the new one...it totally solves the porblem of phoenix and ninja.....the pace is much faster and you really can gain huge points is you are good. life is full of changes...so is kdice...get used to it and stop bitching.... u can always stop playing if you don't like it.....you can play the single player game instead: http://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/dice/dice.html |

at 1:25 AM, Monday September 10, 2007 EDT like the new scoring, don't like the new flagging system. it takes alot of the psychological/philosophical component out of the game, making things even more based on random chance (and thus boring)

at 11:33 AM, Monday September 10, 2007 EDT I think this game is much more like poker than it is like chess, so ante-based scoring seems much more sensible than a genius-based one. There might be a better way to divide the chips when a player leaves the table, and over time I hope that the scoring system is tinkered with. But I think we're closer to an ideal system than with ELO.

I like the new flags, and grey areas. I dislike that by having a line like below I am still a gutterballer with 77 points. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 19% 20% 17% 7% 14% 6% 14% Pretty good line... yet only 77 points in the new kdice. 63 games played. I wonder what that would have translated into with ELO? The reset after every month is beyond incomprehensible. No one will want to stay and build points by playing hundreds of games if they are just going to get reset. At this point you have to play so many games to get to higher tables and they will all be reset anyway come the end of the month. It's september 10th... So far only a few 400 games get played. That's flaw if you're going for the reset. Plus there's so few high tables running and to build and break apart the higher tables every month is exhausting and futile IMO. Kdice is a game, but it is also a community. People come here for the competition and don't want to be reset and play with click-through casual suiciding noobs every month. I'm fine with whatever is chosen, but honestly I see a lot more 'wrong' with this version than I did the last. |
