Crazy attacking in the new game

I'm sorry to say this because I know Ryan and others are trying to make the game better.
In the new game, people are encouraged by the flagging system to attack like crazy and if it works then they win and if it doesn't they can just flag and try again in the next game. I was never great strategically, but this new game is just like slot machines. There is no strategy left. For me, all the fun has been taken from playing. The games are short and brutal and mainly based on luck. If you have a bad start in this game, you are just dead. There is almost no chance to work your way back. |

at 2:32 PM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT first of all, the first rnd_ post here wasn't written by me, seems a friend my mine must have inadvertently posted with it.
please understand, had i had a chance to read this post first, and refute or utterly destroy kissygirl's arguments, i would have taken the first opportunity. reading back, i'd like to point out that she was actually somewhat nice in her very poorly thought out argument -- thanks for that, at least. first of all, by her own admission she sucks (i was never great strategically). yes, your old plan of action -- to sit back and let the "boys" who think you are a real "teddy bear" kill off your enemies for you -- will probably no longer work. I'm sorry your strategy to win is gone :( You too Dicey -- at least you had "fun" last month. Vermont: All the real women love me. =P Finally, BOOM |

at 2:53 PM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT RND, I love you. My love will one day overcome how much of a dick you are... or how little dick you do have. Whatever. It doesn't matter.
You are truly the one constant in my kdice life... the man I look to for low blows and 4v5's. I wish you a long and happy life. Because without you... mine is empty. |

at 4:38 PM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT I played now a set of games.
I don't like how people go suicide attacking as many as possible countries in the middle game when they decide to go out to improve their dominance at the end, and then quickly flag out. IMHO this is pretty stupid in game design, it encourages this. |

at 4:39 PM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT oh, and to make it a perfect *casual game* it should IMHO have no scoring at all.
Never knew why scoring was introced back in january, now over half a year, it changed to this and changes to that, and IMHO well you still haven't figured it out :-) |

the scoring penalizes you for suiciding before you flag. your dom also does not increase *at all*. |

at 4:51 PM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT well people don't realize it then. :-) just have seen it happen now several times, but yes I'm not entitled to >100 tables :-). So I don't know how the issues are there.
I have only one question. What is the advantage of playing at a high table at all? I mean when you are looking for score. Rather play at 0 tables, where you are much likely to win with some strategy... 3rd to add, for a causal game, it (scoring) has become *very* complicated. I mean you start it, and look at all the numbers, the bars under it, the first time it was *ough* that sure did became complicated since february. Yes one can always argue, "you do not need to care about score". Yes maybe I don't care, I'm just looking for a few games, but still I'm trying to win. And the way most people on table is highly affected from score. So if you just try to win, score *is* important, even if you care s*** about this number. |

at 5:29 PM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT fuzzy, scoring is actually easier to understand than elo now. The only thing you needs to know about the bars is that if you are on the left, you are gaining points. To everyone else, it's not that the new game is encouraging a lot of the problems you find right now, you must remember, this is very similar to all of the lower table games in the last system, and guess what? You are playing with those players. Give it time, good players will prevail over the month, and people will adjust to the rules as certain misconceptions are weeded out. So remember these two things, you are now playing with people of all levels, and most people don't quite understand how to play the new game just yet. Remember february with dom.
-CoMik- P.S. Vermont, Kissy loves me too :o |

at 7:56 PM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT Hmm, as I have said a number of times I liked the old system better because it was more social and involved more strategy, whereas the new one is more like gambling - without the bluffing :-(
But as I also said - we should give it a try. I feel as if I'm slowly getting into it. Oh, I will never get as good as rnd, of course. Louis - I disagree with you. The game essentially STARTS after three rounds. Before that, no points are given for dom. Which, if anybody bothered to read this post this far, actually makes for some interesting strategic considerations ... Oh, and finally: If the new version makes Cleo play from time to time - that is a very good thing ... (but I would still like to have kissy and dicey around) :o |
